102/102(*) Open Trails.
(Please Note: There is and has been a slight
mathematical error in the Official data “ % “, as
Versant Sud/South Side # 24 Ryan Bas/Lower
is shown as closed. Ryan Bas/Lower is considered
a separate and distinct trail from Ryan Haut/Upper
even though it shares the same number.)

Increasing Daily Incremental Grooming Refinements
Render Fast, Forgiving And Fun Conditions... Everywhere!

Any string of Sub-Zero C days, including this one,
sees a daily expansion of integrated grooming
benefit over an increasing range, with an increasing
degree of uniformity in the depths of loose, skiable
top layers across that range.

It is a mechanical process that could generally
be considered as blending on an upward scale
for both range and depths, so compared to the
firmness of the base 2 days ago, the sensations
of reliable edge/grip at speeds should be quite
noticeable to those here over multi-day visits.
If this is your one day out this week, you picked
a good one.

Like all seasonal outdoor sports, the skiing experience
is profoundly affected by weather, however current
technologies in both snowmaking and grooming have
largely mitigated the wild swings in weather effects
that drastically altered conditions from day-to-day
in the days of yore, to the point that now what we
have are conditions that certainly can be different
from one day to the next, but have far more even
quality within any sequence of weather events.

Graphically expressed, regardless of the peaks
and valleys in winter weather metrics, the ski
conditions metrics have a sustained, higher,
up-side building quality base line with far fewer
valley dips. We are all seeing the benefit of that
in the overall excellence of conditions at Tremblant
right now.

Weather Notes:

First Day Of New Year Sunset At 5:00 P.M.

This is important as it is a genuine mechanical
advantage with the sun being higher is the sky
for improved light contrast during afternoon
hours which is especially applicable to Versant
Nord/North Side terrain.

Conditions Notes:

In the Groomed:

Superb overall excellence of smooth, fast, forgiving top layers
that have very evenly refined surfaces and universal range.

The steepest Black/Double-Black pitches that have
popular use may be prone to traffic wear exposed slick
or icy bit’s of base exposures, so for those legitimate
Expert zones, sharp fresh edges are your best friends.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

Continued variable from excellent to raw and highly
individualistic. This is a genuine Expert skill level
group of trails that require careful exploration and
slow speeds for safe navigation. The recent cold
has re-crystallized the top layers in the untracked
Hors Piste, so there is a very desirable return to
lightness in the remaining fresh lines. There is a
perceptible reduction in the thickness across the
tops within mogul runs, however traffic volume has
exposed some down-side rocky/icy bits that are
not visible from the up-side, so stop and survey
at topographical contours before proceeding.

---------- 10:10 A.M. Conditions Caveat/Insert Update: -----------

There is an anomalous atmospheric event.

A very low cloud ceiling with a suspended very fine
air-borne particulate is blanketing the Mountain.
It is coating goggles and people making vision a
challenge. Reduced speeds are essential for safety.
Goggles up is an option however eye-blast is
described as painful with any significant speed.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
