“April”, In March...

No doubt, hot n’ soft, all day long...

As nice as it may be in the moment, this is not what we want.
It’s too hot and there will be thaw that will tap into the base
reserves. Not a single thing we can do about it other than
enjoy the moment and realize that we’re dealing with global
size weather forces that can alter the course of the season
in terms of durable square area of coverage. If anything, this
extraordinarily warm exposure should lead us to a level of
appreciation for every single opportunity to get out A.S.A.P.
for the great conditions still available. In other words, go now
go often, while we still can.

In our weather notes attached we examine the Continental
overview, as well as the concept of “March... In Like A Lamb,
Out Like A Lion”, however the actuality of that in future reality
is entirely speculation, so very important to repeat the notion
of go now and go often.

Weather Notes:

Yikes!!! Don’t forget to grab the sunscreen on the way out the door!

March 2024... “In Like A Lamb, Out Like A Lion” ???

It may seem odd to some, but the reality is that the
Polar Vortex could actually be the best hope we have
for a rejuvenation of winter-like conditions as we
approach the last 6 weeks of the season.

--------------------------------------------------

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Very soft and potentially moisture saturated authentic spring
skiing conditions that may exhibit increasing levels of sticky
bits as the day matures.

Ski/board base waxing for “Warm” snow temp ranges may
be your best asset for optimizing glide in what will likely
become rather thick in the heat of the afternoon.

Versant Nord/North Side slopes will retain firmness longer
and there will be sweet spot revolving conditions as the
various combinations of elevation temperature differentials
get mixed with direct solar energy exposures so for one
example, you may find zones of more durable performance
in the upper portions of the Lowell Thomas sector where
the rays are very oblique and have less direct intensity.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

Super easy, super fun, super soft spring...

However, there are zones of highly variable depths
along descent lines so very cautious speeds are
warranted because a lot of the hazards are not
visible from above, so you need to navigate with
the capability to almost instantly stop, pivot, turn,
jump, step over or around unexpected glitches.
