74(*) Open Trails.

Versant Sud/South Side Summit Level Trail # 18,

McCulloch Opening Today!!!

We are using a sunny day file shot sample here
because we want to illustrate the typical groomed
finishing quality that McCulloch opens with.
Unfortunately at the time of this writing the Summit
is cloud-fogged in solidly so it certainly does not
look like this at this precise second but the point
is, here’s what’s under the fog and with any luck
the forecast will be right and the sun will come out!

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Everything freshly groomed should be truly superb
to start with. Durability is also likely to be enhanced
by all the additionally opened new terrain that simply
causes the traffic loads to be spread out over such
a wider square area which means less wear stress.
The big variable, as it is during all Holiday time periods
is the effects of traffic, however we think that because
we’re just coming out of 4 day cold-snap, the base
should be really densely compacted and consequently
mogul resistant.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

By now, most of the easily accessible zones close
to lifts will have been very well traveled and may have
morph’d from loosely tracked fresh snow to well
established bump line patterns. The difference is
most likely that you’ll need to be receptive to, and
responsive to following the line patterns, rather than
being able to descend randomly through the bush.

Generally:

With rising air temps you can frequently experience
some of the best of two worlds because you have
the embedded cold and the inherent performance
within the trail surfaces that all remains totally intact
due to convection, while the atmospheric conditions
are a lot warmer allowing for far easier all day comfort.
