All Smiles at the Tremblant Booth at this years Toronto Ski Show!
#1 Ski Resort Eastern North America, Ski Magazine...
14 years in a row!

The Toronto Ski Show has been sort of an "unofficial" start to
our season for many years. Even though it takes travel to get
there, we relied on it to outfit the kids when they were small
and growing quickly. Every year, for many years, we needed
bigger boots, longer skis, poles, etc., etc. and the Ski Patrol
sponsored ski swap was the the most practical, cost effective
way for our young family to be able to get on the Mountain.

We also booked our family ski week vacations for Tremblant here
because there were show special rates and packages that
made it affordable.

Of course, being surrounded by tons of new ski gear is always
like being a kid in a candy store, so it's impossible not to
feel enthusiastic about the new season that's only a few weeks away!

This years show is typical of the format that evolved over the past
5 years or so, where there has been less presence on the part of
manufacturers from a corporate display level, ie: big display booths
with all the brand new for this season gear, to a format that is largely
regional retailers with past season close-outs and really big
discounts.

Some of the deals offered on previous stock are quite remarkable and
from a practical standpoint, this format probably makes skiing and
boarding more accessible, just because at these kinds of prices,
more people and families can afford to get into or grow with the sport.

Typical of the regional retailers offering deep discounts on past
model gear, Bob, from Algonquin Outfitters in Hunstville, Ont.
is a very knowledgeable rep that can put you into some very
high quality gear for a fraction of the orig. price. Check out the
prices on the Atomics and Rossi's here. That's about 60% off!

Tons 'O Board Gear!
Selection in board gear is just about unlimited at this year's show.

We were impressed by the shear volume of shoppers walking around
with big bags of merchandise, evidently consumers are spending
when they see a good deal.

As usual, there are displays from a lot of big Ski Resorts from both East
and West, after all, this show has a draw from somewhere around 5 or
6 million within the Southern Ontario market. The smaller regional areas
are also well represented too, so certainly when it comes to comparison
shopping for a destination, it's hard to beat the range of choice that can
be found here.

Speaking of which...

Good timing and nice to know that Tremblant has just once again been
voted #1 Ski Resort in Eastern North America by Ski Magazine, so we're
at the head of the class when it comes to those comparisons!

It's pretty hard to find this much selection in one place.
The Toronto Ski Show continues to be one of our favorites!
