T360 Prime Time Apres Ski Under Construct @ 8:15 P.M.

It was an Excellent Day to Meet Your Friends at Tremblant.

North(above), or South(below), virtually every Tremblant Pic. Background
had the Glorious Brooding Sky overhead, and occasionally coming out of it, there
were dustings of Frozen Airborne Particles that could coat your goggle lenses.

South Or North, Virtually every Tremblant Descent is a Very Positive Gripping
Physical Experience that can involve you to the extent that your muscle capacity
will permit.... and that’s at each and every Skill Level.

Tremblant literally has something for everyone. Period.

(**) Standing on the side of P’tit Bonheur, waiting for some of the usual
Quick Carvers that come along(they make for great Action Shots),
when we saw this tenacious person above, who obviously was just getting a handle
on basic Snowboard manoeuvres. After making several attempts at linked
heel-side to toe-side turns, punctuated by several tumbles... she got it
right for 2 very nicely balanced carves before another episode of “Gravity”
took over. Above, we were lucky enough to capture her in the middle of those
brief moments when every successful beginner has that fleeting experience of
the kind of perfection that they have faith in, the one they know is at the end of
the practice rainbow. It’s these fleeting moments that kept us all going and kept
us all motivated, when we were beginners... regardless of age.

She may never see this, she may never realize we shared her moment of
knowing that if you try consistently, if you try endlessly, without giving up,
practice can indeed lead to the perfect experience of Learning Accomplishment,
even if it’s only a brief taste to start with.

We wish her all the very best...

It was an Excellent Day to be on your own in the dwindling daylight of
Last Run, exploring the Picturesque Corners of Tremblant as you make your
way down.

Everything we wrote this morning(in Orig. Post Below), about the expectations
for one notch up performance from yesterday due to the Integration of Last Night’s
new snow into a chilling base, came true. Superb Skiing Indeed.

Bottom Line Today, No matter the Weather...
It was an excellent day to be at Tremblant.

Regarding Tomorrow... Overnight low tonight of -8C and while we’re sleeping...

We can tell you for a fact, in certain places, It will be Snowing Over Tremblant...

Another thing about tomorrow...

You may recall that occasionally there is a small, but bright yellow Light Source
in the Sky we call the “Sun”. While we have not seen much of it recently...
by all all Weather Forecasting Accounts... Friday may well have a “Sunny”
element we would all enjoy.

Time will tell, but it could be a Sunlit “Long View” “Panoramic” Day,
not to mention another day of very fine Winter-Like Ski/Board Conditions.

Don’t forget Fresh Camera Batteries!

38(*) Open Trails on South And North Sectors At #Tremblant.

On top of everything picture below from yesterday,
it Snowed again last night, roughly 4CM.

Tremblant360 12.17.14. Proof Of Snow:

2.5 Metres Trail Side, P’tit Bonheur, Versant Nord, The North Side, @ Tremblant.

With Summit temp’s that got to +2C, the Mountain was subjected to
a certain amount of warm that softened up all surface layers. It was not
so warm that the softening penetrated beyond an inch, 2 to 3 CM’s, so
while there was definite Shred in the top layer, it never got mushy or
mogul’d right up to Last Run, so the essential cold stability of the Base is 100%.

above of Beauchemin, just below the intersection of P’tit Bonheur. On the upper
left of this pic., you can see the merge of La Traverse coming in from the bottom
of Rope Tow/Lowell Thomas. All the surfaces in this sector were virtually flawless.

Below:
Over on Versant Sud, The South Side, for the sake of continuity we continue
to look at the evolution of McCulloch as a reference point. It has similar
conditions to all other Open Terrain, but the steepness on the upper pitch
can often be prone to Icy, so we were surprised to find almost zero ice
and good, even shred-able turning grip all the way down with an equally
surprising lack of mogul formation right up to days end.

environment presents both challenges and opportunity. We are Amateur
photographers using basic gear that is the lightest weight for ease of mobility.)

Obviously, the Long Distance Panoramic Views were just not there, but that
takes nothing away from the absolutely enchanting, almost surreal, quite
near Black ’n White, yet full colour of the trail-side Beauty that exists every
single moment of any Grey day at Tremblant.

Last Run: A great opportunity to try a recent Trail Opening... Taschereau, a
very well liked Local Favourite. All things considered, it’s in fine, early season
condition. There is a “Rock Hazard” sign posted at the top, but other than one
sort of thin portion with a couple of pebbles showing along the way, there was
not hardly a mark on it.

The Kidz were certainly having fun on Taschereau, and the snow was flying
as they were experimenting with the Laws of Physic's as they apply to “Gravity”.

We encourage the use of the applicable “Warm” rated Base Wax or any similar
performing Ski/Board Base coatings for any day that temp’s are close to Zero
and we stand by that as a very beneficial utility.

We have Ski bases coated with a Hydrophobic Polymer for this exact purpose
and we had wicked fast potential all day without even a hint of moisture
induced drag.

It’s not that we go ripping around either. Constant scanning for photo opp’s
often means slow progression and frequent stops for Pic. scenes, however
the ability to quickly resume speed is a big asset and the ability to Glide
the Plateau’s or even accelerate over them with Skating action are huge
advantages that result from the extremely low surface drag of Waxed/Coated
Ski/Board bases.

Weather Notes:

Snowy Overcast with Possibility of Sunny Breaks in Afternoon.
Daytime High temp @ -1C, South Resort Base Level, so after yesterdays
unusual lack of Cooler Elevation Difference, it will be interesting to
see how cool the Summit is.

Breezes at Moderate Speeds from the Nor-West or Crossing the Summit
from the Nansen Sector towards Duncan.

----------------------------

Condition Notes:

We expect that today may be a firmer version of yesterday, however,
with falling snow as the temps dropped last eve., the all day smoothness
of the top layers has potential to be at higher levels due to the low, Sub-Zero
temp integration of the Natural Snow into the base as it chilled.

We’ll get back to ya on that, Apres Ski.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

At the Time Noted above, the South Resort Base Level Temp was -3C, so the cooler Elevation
Differential was less by a degree or so than normal, but quite nicely into the Winter Zone
that allowed Snowmaking to be effectively restarted.

We also think the Cooler Mountain Level Breezes helped to further aerate and/or dry out
residual dampness in the top surface layers, resulting in the more Winter-like feel of
the Snow under Skis/Board.
