T360 Apres Ski Posted Below in “Reply” @ 9:30 P.M.

------------- Orig. Post Below ------------

2(*) Open Trails on the Official Open List.
(This topic/page subject to all-day revisions/updates)

The Skiing will be fine, wet and “Spring” for sure with +10C and rain,
but fine anyway...

There’s only going to be one essential piece of equipment you’ll
need to make the most out of today...

Any serious Skier knows that both the beginning and the end of the Season
can have warm, wet weather that still offers fine surface conditions and
very good Ski/Board performance.

Taking advantage of that performance is no problem, all you have to do is show up.
Being comfortable is a different question though, because fine performance or not,
being soaked through is not comfortable and strips away core heat. The answer,
of course, is shown above in the form of the most excellent Descente Poncho which
is to all intents and purposes, a shield that keeps you dry.

It is the most effective way we know of to optimize the use of a rainy Ski day
and considering the purchase price of about $100.00(or less when you can find
them on sale), it is a wonderful, simple and totally effective way to salvage out
the very best of days like today. We have these that might be 10 or more years
of age, have been used dozens, if not hundreds of times, and if properly Apres Ski
dried out and folded, still look brand new.

You can find them at various retailers around Tremblant’s Resort Village and
we’ve discovered many uses such as camping and other spectator sports that
make them an asset 12 months of the year.

Speaking of “Performance”...

Racers from all over the local region are flocking to Tremblant for
those very first days of on-hill training. There were times yesterday when
you felt surrounded by speed and that will continue on for at least a month.
It's also good to see the types of skills development exercises as illustrated
above, being incorporated into the training. These types of exercises can be
used by all Skiers seeking improvement, so recreational Skiers should feel
free to try them when working on their own skills progress.

Tremblant usually has Park features on Opening day and this season
they’ve been installed on the far side of Beauchemin, right at the
P’tit Bonheur lower exit/intersection. There was a steady stream of
users and we managed to get this telephoto action shot from about
200 metres away.

Big Open Trail News:

Beauchemin Bas(Lower) Planned Opening Sat. Morn

Quote from Official Tremblant.ca Snow Report:

"Great news for the upcoming week-end!
We are planning to open Beauchemin Bas
and the Duncan chair on Saturday morning!"

Above: Looking at Beauchemin Bas(Lower), standing beside the
Lowell Thomas Lift Base. There’s a TON of Snow here and regardless
of a few hours of “Damp”, that snow will largely still be there, so this
planned Opening seems very doable and will be a most welcome
expansion of the terrain. With falling temps into the freezing zone
this eve., this is a great opportunity to complete this path and bring
the Duncan Quad on-line.

-------------- Conditions Caveat for Saturday, Nov. 28th, 2015 ---------------

Please Note: Today the Summit rises up to around +6 C. Tonight the Summit
may see as low as -14C. The Laws of Physics tell us that what was “Liquid” today,
has a high probability of being “solid” tomorrow. What kind of Edges you got
for “Solid”? One factor that can make a HUGE difference in that conversion is...

Grooming.

We think that because the temps are falling early this eve., if Grooming
is done after the Sub-zero’s arrive, the top layers could have far less in the
way of any “Solid” content, however there are many variables that could
generate different outcomes.

Regardless, crisp, fresh, sharp edges could be your very best friend. If you can file
your own edges, tonight will be a very good time to do that.

---------------- end of Caveat ---------------

Class Is In...

Anytime is a good time for a lesson, but one advantage to learning skills
now is that you have the rest of the season to practice with. Building skills
with repetition is not only a key element in efficiently moving from Beginner
to Intermediate and ultimately to Expert, but with a seasons worth of effort,
helps build Sport Specific Muscles, so it’s a “Win, Win” situation.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Apres Ski, Posted at 9:23 P.M.

Today was a warm, rainy, Spring Skiing day with good speed and good edging, but obviously
requiring a waterproof/water resistant, outer layer in order to maintain dry interior garments.

This is an Apres Lunch Summit Snow Sample:

For the most part, photography was impractical as you could not keep
any lens clear from the combination of big wind and rain. The pic’s here
are basically all we could get that came out without huge water smears.

NONE OF THE WEATHER HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH

GOOD, FAST, SPRING SKIING.

The snow was wet, but it was still fast, it was wet, but still good edge set.

The Surfaces were smooth and there was not much in the way of traffic,
so at the end of the day, and clinically speaking, the Skiing was actually
quite good!

Of Course... being dry with a waterproof outer layer was highly desirable,
but if you could see past the inconvenience of dampness, there was nothing
between you and any portion of a day of good carving exercise.

SEE ORIG. POST ABOVE FOR SATURDAY UTILITY/WEATHER NOTES.

Other Saturday Reminder Notes:

Summit to Base on Versant Nord, North Side, Beauchemin Bas, Lower,
Scheduled OPEN TO DUNCAN Quad Base!!!

The weather should be Sunny Good!

It will be great to be able to continue descending on the lower
portion of Beauchemin. This section has progressive pitches
and combined with the upper portion, we’ll have total Mountain Vertical!
