There are Two Separate and Distinct Elements To
The Ski/Board Experience.

1) The pervasive dominance of intense Cold
Currently Effecting Most Of Eastern North America.

2) The Technically Superlative Cryogenic Performance Of the
Tremblant Groomed Alpine Trail Network.

You Can Dress and Take Frequent Breaks for the First.

You Can Ski or Board as Much As You Can of the Second,
within the Limitations of the First.

Really Cold Temp's, But Really, Really Good Skiing.

Basically, Positively, There was more Speed in the Surfaces than we expected.
Our theory is that the few mm dusting of cold formed snowfall last night was
acting like a layer of Ball Bearings over the Mountain. Nice and Free Running,
not slick, just quick. There was the very odd Icy Crest and some very high
density, solidly compacted, wind polished Snow, but to those with bad, worn,
dull edges, some of those hard snow zones may have been perceived as icy?
Vast Majority, Roughly 92.56427% of Open, Groomed Terrain, still at Very Fine
to Excellent.

Its “Warmer” outside this morning at only -26C...
Within the context of yesterdays -32C, that actually
feels noticeable when you step outside to start and
warm up the car.

Soleil Sector on “Progressive” Opening.

Clinically Speaking, the Skiing will be Great.
You need to safely adapt to be able to take advantage.

Big, BIG, literally Really BIG Developing/Opening Terrain News!

Adrenaline Park Features Under Construction!

The Adrenaline Park has the largest Terrain Features regularly
available at Tremblant, so there will be tremendous joy within
the Park Expert Community when this zone gets completed and
Open.

The Open Park Terrain has taken a big leap forward starting last
season, then again this season with the most sophisticated array
of modules on-line for Opening Day with the “Progression” Park
on Alpine Bas, Lower. So, together with the Versant Nord, North Side
Rope Tow Park, and soon this Adrenaline Park, the full slate of
Modules is not too far off.

Weather Notes:

“If”... there’s a User Friendly element for todays portion
of the forecast, it’s the Low Wind speed to start things off
with. Cold is always far easier to adapt to with low to no wind.

“Air Speed” is another factor though when you add in descent
velocity which is definitely a Wind effect. What you need to be careful
of is that the Skiing/Boarding is so exhilarating, that it suppresses
some of the sensitivity you might normally have if you were statically
facing into the same “Air Speed” as wind. This loss of sensitivity can
lead to rapid skin damage to things like tip of nose, cheeks, forehead,
or anywhere else there may be slivers of exposed skin.

Conditions Notes:

Under these Weather circumstances we recommend you throw
away any hard timing plans and default to a “Go With The Flow”
modality of time management. We often see people so fixated
on what they intend to accomplish as far as numbers of runs
they want to make, that they may force themselves to stay out
longer than they should. In an attempt to be “Tough”, they end
up causing themselves hurt or damage that may prematurely
shorten their day, when a more relaxed pace would have prevented
the harm and in the end, gotten them more descents.

With the Overnight Grooming Shifts since the big wind event
a couple of days ago, we think you will see a substantial reduction
in the Slick or Icy bits that were around at that time. There will
likely still be some moderate surface friction because of the dryness
these temp’s create, but that’s still a benefit when you want to take
on a bit more steepness in your Challenge Scale. Otherwise, we expect
the very highest levels of Grip and Traction over all the Open Groomed
Terrain.

Hors Piste, Sous Bois, Glade and Un-Groomed Open Terrain still require
caution for natural hazards, but for this date are considerably ahead of
usual. We think the ambient Cool has kept some of the traffic away, so
the net effect is pretty good conditions for those who like to brave the
weather and use Bumps to warm up anyway!

Page Under Progressive Assembly...
Please be careful. Holiday guests are
not usually accustomed to outdoor activity
at these temps., so great sensitivity is needed
to prevent frostbite and stay safe. Take Warming
Breaks Frequently and watch out for net “Air Speed”.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
