It’s Another KKKkkkool One....

First Tracks may seem like every run’s on the “Edge”!!!

In this case, we don’t mean Tremblant’s “Edge” Sector either.
The “Edge” we’re referring to is the edge of temperature tolerance
for being outside for recreational activity when things get down to
-28C at elevations for Opening. For many people, that might even
be one or two runs at a time, and that’s definitely O.K.

Far wiser to default to “Safe” rather than risk any frostbite damage
that at these cool values can happen in literally Seconds when
Descent “Air Speed” is factored in.

When The Weather Becomes The News.

Humans have this mental image of “Wish I Was There” in almost
all Holiday, Vacation, Destination Activity, Travel or Sports Related
Publications. “However”, that may not be so common when the sunrise
Temp’s are in the range that most of Eastern North America is experiencing
now. The temps that we all are being subjected to throughout the region
at this time are a statistical anomaly in two areas. Firstly, it is rare to have
them so low at the end of December, Secondly, it is rare to have them
in such a long sequence.

We make this specific statement here because ultimately, this record
will have far greater readership in the future as part of historical Time
Period research and it’s important to note that these very low temp’s
are not normal, not even close to normal for Dec. 31 at Tremblant,
or anywhere North of the States of Texas or Florida, USA, for that matter.

You need to use common sense and reason when
temperatures are legitimately “Extreme”.

Always Default To Safe Mode where you can “Feel” all
your extremities. The potential in these ultra-cool
conditions is that you may Not Feel(toes in particular),
if you push yourself past any initial cold induced pain.

We have been there ourselves... your feet hurt, but you’re
having so much fun with the technically Excellent Skiing,
that you “Push Through” for another run or two and at
some point, the pain discomfort seems to “Go Away”.
This is a danger signal. You should have come in when
you felt the cold discomfort, if the pain goes away
it’s Not A Good Sign, Get Into A Warm Space Now.

------------- Happy New Years Eve.! Up-Date -----------------

@ -30C, It was too cold for us to trek over to the Resort, so we
took some “Artsy” Shots of the Midnight Fireworks through
the window and through the trees...

We intentionally annotated “Healthy” and “Safe”
over “Happy” because we’ve come to the conclusion that
without Healthy and Safe, Happy may be just a fleeting fancy.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
