with tonights Grooming Operations to receive the New
Snowfall in tomorrows forecast.

Another Reason Tomorrow’s Going To Be Great...

Absolutely Gorgeous, Iconic, Laurentian Scenery. but... You need to be prepared.

Super-Cool First Tracks, Warming Up by about 10 Degrees C in 5 Hours
to -15C by 1:00P.M. At least it’s moving in the right direction...

Conditions Notes:

We’ve been commenting on ambient Friction levels over New Snow
which are generally getting lower, however Super-Cool Snow can
have more surface resistance, so this morning may feel as though
there is less “Glide” until a bit of temp-rise works into the mix.

A bit of Friction helps make Trails Like this Marie-Clade Asselin Sample
from Yesterday Easier, so it may be a good opportunity to safely try
more challenge.

Marie-Claude Asselin, or MCA as it is also known to Locals, is one
of our diagnostic centres for Conditions within the Upper sectors
of Versant Nord, the North Side. It is great shape with little or no
glitches and it indicates the overall stability of this whole side of
the Mountain which has gotten and kept very fine Natural Snow.

It is a Single Black, Expert Run, but in this excellent condition, we would
take a confident Intermediate with good left/right “Hockey Stop” ability
on it with supervision. It has a more gentle, and wider descent than it’s
immediate neighbour, Trail #65, Banzai, but enjoys the very same rate
of Snowfall this sector so frequently gets.

Another advantage of this area is its very often complete protection from
high wind speeds. It is sheltered under the Lee of the Summit, and the
tall trees on either side additionally buffer any winds. You can often stand
trail-side here and be in complete calm, while overhead, you can hear the
wind howling. In a way, spooky, but very interesting to observe.

General Long-Range Reference...

The Return of the Polar Vortex to this side of the Hemisphere is making News
and is going to affect all of North America for possibly the next several weeks,

However...

In comparison to the Shortest days of the year in the previous December
episode, we do not think the Low Temps will be as deep. Look again at the
14 day forecast above. We think that looks “Easy” for a Ski Resort.
The benefit will be in the consistency of what we call “Pure Winter” conditions
where there are no Thermal “+” Value temps at Mountain Elevations that
can generate overnight Icy Cycles. Mountain Crews are typically able to focus
completely on Refinement as opposed to Recovery, so Ski/Board Conditions
should only get better.

There is also the currently forecasted indication that the Southern
extent of the Cold Boundary may not be as far down as it was in
December either, so we may see more temperature moderation
closer to the edge of passing Active Weather Systems. The Sun
is higher in the sky as Earth begins the tilt towards Spring, so it’s
inevitable that Solar Energy will have a greater fundamental effect.

It’s SUPER-BOWL Weekend... this usually means a busy day today
(but the cool may affect that to some extent), and somewhat busy
tomorrow morning, until Noon, when all the Rabid Party People
decide to leave en-masse, and the Round-Abouts begin to look like
NASCAR Race Tracks. For some completely Not Understandable Reason,
the Herd of Super-Bowl Fans would much rather line up on the Autoroute
than Ski, so typically, all the Dedicated Tremblant Ski/Board Fans end
up with an afternoon of Zero Lift Lines and Rapid Lapping.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
