All The rest In The Morning, But...
We did not get the worst of the Rainy Mild Shot
that ended up quite a bit farther to the South
of Tremblant, so our Trails came out fairly well.

It’s A Mother Nature One Day Sale On “Super-Shred Spring Performance”.

We theorize that there is adequate, very deep frost that should
be acting as a barrier to keep the softness from going too far
into the top layers. If we are right, you should be able to go
anywhere within the Open Terrain today with complete confidence
in Edge-Set turning ability, no matter what style or technique you use.

The Bonus for this exceptional “Spring” Performance is Total Winter Coverage.

Too Easy!

This may look Foggy and Grey to you, but for us, it’s one of the
most beautiful sights and expectations of the entire season.
Quite literally, Go Anywhere, and Do Anything Versatility within
some of the most “Forgiving” conditions ever known to the Human
Ski Experience. Atmospheric Conditions Notwithstanding... We think
the Surface Performance should be outstanding “Spring-Like” in
February due to the fact that this has been the first overnight “Warm”
24hr cycle in months.

Even The Moguls Are Easy!

Normally, we’re not into the Moguls too much because of
sensitive knees, but we must say these Moguls were not
only easy, but fun, at Last Run yesterday on Versant Nord,
the North Side’s picturesque Trail # 66, Le Tunnel. We use
this trail, as well as the adjoining trails “Banzai” and "Marie-Claude
Asselin", as a diagnostic markers because they are not supported
by snowmaking, so they're great indicators of the au Natural
Snowpack status.

Weather Notes:

We are very happy to report the Weather Forecast Models have been wrong
over the past 48 hours on a few key elements that will seem small to most,
but have been, and still are, very important to Skiers at Tremblant right now.

1) The Projected High Temp of +9C did not happen. Excellent News!
it's only going up to +5C which means far less thermal exposure to Heat
at cooler Mountain elevations.

2) The first 12 hours or so of this Thermal/Precipitation Event was
Snowfall(night before last), not the forecasted Rain, so we are way,
way, ahead of what could have been if the forecast had been completely
accurate over the entire cycle. Most of the New Snow was still completely
and very evidently intact at Last Run on Nord, North, @ 4:15 yesterday.

WE LOVE “NORTH”, because most of the big rain was “South”.

Things could have been a lot worse, and in our opinion, Tremblant’s
Northerly Latitude has once again spared the precious Alpine Snow
Sports Trail Network here from what could have been far greater effects.
(Please Note: If you are reading this record at any future time as part of
Research into Skiing Eastern North America, we respectfully submit that
when you place your Deposit on Booked Travel 6 months in advance,
with Tremblant’s Northerly Latitude, the probabilities of sustained, durable,
“Winter” are substantially greater, with fewer, less severe thermal events.)

If The Sun Comes Out As Forecast,
It Could Be An Extraordinarily Fine Afternoon!

Conditions Notes:

A commonly heard refrain after any wet day...

“We had a bad day because we got wet."

All the while, clinically speaking, the Skiing itself is Excellent.

Surface Conditions And Atmospheric Conditions Need to be thought of as
Separate and Distinct elements. If you are prepared for the Weather,
you can easily remain dry and comfortable to take advantage of the
Joy Of Spring Skiing performance that today should have.

No Serious Regional Or Global Ski Traveler Should Be Without This
Essential Piece Of Kit.

What you need is this:

The Descente Poncho pictured above is brilliantly simple
and effective. It takes less than 2 runs to get used to wearing,
and after that you don’t notice it, ...but You Get To Stay Dry.

It’s not insulated, just a really big Weather Shield and we
use ours 12 Months of the year for any outdoor activity that
can have “Wet”. Ideal for Camping, Skiing, Spectator Sports,
etc., etc. For just around 100bucks, available in Tremblant’s
resort shops, we have these that are over 10 years of age
and still look Brand New... when you take care of them.
It packs Small, Flat and only ounces of weight, so super-easy
to keep in your travel kit. You will Laugh At Rain, wherever you
travel from Now On!

There Could Be Significant Changes To The Open Trail Status
Due To Weather Effects.

Consult With Info.Ski and/or Ski Patrol Crews.

If Trails are closed, it is most likely for Preservation.
The bulk of the snow is not going anywhere, especially
with all the supporting frost below.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
