T360 Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski @ 2:49 A.M.
Here is a Tremblant Pic.file summary
with everything you need to know:
Tremblant is outrageously beautiful...
- to Ski...
- to look at...
------------------------ 7:42 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------------
19(*) Open Trails on Sud, South, and Nord, North Sectors at #Tremblant.
Please Note: Summit-To-Base Ski Out on both sectors.
Repeat from last nights Apres Ski:
The main reasons you’re going to have
a great day at Tremblant today...
- Natural Snowfall.
- Immaculate Grooming.
Sorry but no action shots yesterday because the combination of
wind and snowing so much, made camera deployment impractical.
This is not to mention that after the busy Opening Holiday
weekend, the traffic was so light there were very few
opportunities to see anyone else. For much of the day,
if you saw someone else, it was like Ghosts silently passing
by, and they disappeared almost as soon as you saw them.
By the end of the day, everyone Skiing at Tremblant
was frontally plastered with a thick, white coating of
snow. Virtually any attempt to take pic’s was met with
almost instantly with a swirling snow-smeared lens, so
we only have a handful of shots that were possible.
Thank goodness it’s a Ski Resort... and also
very thankful to have photography challenges
related to “Too much snow”.
What this really means is that today should be
a blissfully snow-white extension of yesterday
with the main differences being the grooming
integrated new snowfall and better long vision
to see and ski it with.
Here is a Web Cam sample from the Summit Level
this morning showing that it’s still lightly snowing,
and so-far, way better, out of the cloud, long vision.
Weather Notes:
Super-Easy, Mild, Late Fall, looking like Early Winter.
However... take a peek at the Northerly wind component.
That’s a rather strong wind velocity, so even though it’s
a mild temp at just under the freezing mark, it will feel
quite a bit cooler where ever you end up facing into it.
The final curve over the crest from La Crete to Beauvallon Haut,
Upper, may seem like a bit of a wind-tunnel effect at peak gusts.
Conditions Notes:
There could be a mix of very firm to slightly soft, but we
think the overall feel may be on the firm side. With a blanket
of new snow, traction should be very good, but there could
be some wild-cards with the way the wind may have shaped
the final drifted features. The wind shaping may also generate
some exposed icy bits over crests and on steeper pitches.
It is very likely that good edges will be a big asset. All initial
explorations should be undertaken with caution and low speed
until you can verify safe passage.
The new snow that has been falling since yesterday afternoon
has had excellent adhesive bonding with the base where ever
Mother Nature could lay it down, so we hope to see a continuation
of the very fine carving traction we were enjoying since it
began to accumulate.
Please Note: The Official Snow Report does not show a 24hr
snow accumulation but we can tell you for a fact that there
were places getting roughly 3 or 4 cm’s per hour of snowing,
blowing and drifting by mid-afternoon, and it did indeed snow
on both sectors. Due to the “Blowing” and “Drifting” references,
it’s difficult to say exactly what the net amount is, but just guessing
at maybe between 5 to 7cm’s?
...And It’s Still Snowing Now.

You know what to do...
With any luck we may have some gaps in the
snow-cloud for pic’s today, we’ll let you know
how that works out at Apres Ski...
