Otherwise, there are 2 Tremblant stories tonight:

1) Skiing Tremblant Today...

See Orig. Post Below, Skiing is great, and in general reference,
everything we write about is still in place.

2) Skiing Tremblant in the days immediately coming, up to and
including, the weekend and the preparations currently underway
for the benefit of the public during the 24Hr. Children’s Charity Event.

There is a tremendous amount of Snowmaking going on. It seems
as though there might be more than we’ve seen on at one time,
for the whole beginning of this new season.

Basically, the highest likelihood of the Weekend “Open” list
could be made up from...

-Everything that was Open today.
-Anything that’s already been Open, but might be closed now,
so far this season. Not guaranteed, just good candidates.
-Anything that’s been on the Snowmaking List over the last week,
plus where snowmaking was today.
Not guaranteed, just good candidates.

Let's look at one sample sector, the Expo Quad/Peak.

Looking at the above pic. we see Snowmaking right at the top
of the Expo Quad, indicating the descent path to Sissy, Fuddle,
and La Griffe is getting support.

Looking to the LEFT side of the pic. above, you can see the Snowmaking
going on behind the ridge, which is Lowell Thomas Bas, Lower.

Riding up the new Lowell Thomas Quad, it looks like this:

The snowmaking observable on the Nord, North represents
the biggest “Block”, i.e., numeric bundle, of potential Trail
Openings between now and the weekend.

The other Snowmaking zone of critical importance is...
Nansen Bas, Lower. A full Summit-To-Base on Nansen may
be possible? If so, that would provide a “Green” path for
the public to the Resort base as an option on a very busy
weekend. Driving around Lac T from the Old Mt. T. Village,
you could see a vast line of Snowmaking on lower Nansen
today, which could be taken as a positive indicator.

More following.... but if you’re Skiing Tremblant tomorrow,
you only need to be concerned with # 1, above.

Weather Notes:

Wow, here is your quintessential “Easy Early Winter Ski Conditions”
forecast for today... “Sun”, daytime high @-4C, and maybe, best of all...
very low wind speed, indicated at +/- 6 KMPH, from the Sud, South,
so rising up the Mountain and crossing the Summit from over the Soleil
sector towards Nansen.

There was another dusting of light snow last night. It was a bigger, larger
radius flake, the kind often referred to as “Fluffy”. It was only enough to
register 1cm, but it should be enough to enhance First Tracks glide.

There have been several “Sunny” forecast days, but virtually none
have materialized in the way we’d all expect a “Sunny” day. Basically,
it’s been overcast with some snow(small or large) at Tremblant since
November 22nd, 2018, with only momentary “Glimpses” of “Sunny”.
That’s fine with us, we’ll take every snowflake we can get, but it has
made the photography rather grey looking so far this season. Today
looks similarly overcast so far, and those big, fluffy snowflakes are
floating down now, as this is written.

Conditions Notes:

It is that time of year when the Open Trail count can go up
or down from day-to-day, or within the day. This is usually
due to safety concerns, and also usually in areas that rely
primarily on natural snow. They are inherently more sensitive
to Mother Natures generosity, as well as traffic patterns of use
that can deplete the natural quicker than where snowmaking is
used to establish a base. That’s what’s pretty much happening
here now, however, there is also a massive snowmaking effort
in many sectors, so we do expect the net number of Open Trails
to rise on that account.

As we have discussed in preceding days, Mountain Crews focus
on opening large amounts of new terrain on or just before the
24hr. Children’s Charity Marathon Fundraiser, so we may see
some of that come on-line soon?

The main, established Boulevards with snowmaking, groomed
bases continue to be some of the very finest early season
performance surfaces. With stable ‘round the clock sub-zero’s
here for over 2 days, today, they should all see refinements
that tweak them into incrementally increasing uniformity
of top-layer depths. Look back up at the 2 top pic’s in today’s
Orig. Post and that should be exactly what you can do at Tremblant
all day today.

What we think Board Fans are going to like...

Glide... There seems to be a lot of sustained glide distance
in the surfaces, so plateaus can be traversed without having
to take a foot out. One of the best examples of that has been
the Nansen to Beauvallon path across Mi Chemin. On skis,
we’ve been able to shoot off Nansen and make it all the way
over to Beauvallon sometimes with no pushing at all, just glide.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
