12/9/18 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Late Eve., Just Before Midnight Apres Ski Edit,
under progressive assembly @ 11:39 P.M.

Here Is What We’ve Been Doing All Day At Tremblant...

Skiing A Beautiful Powder Snow-Storm with very thickly falling
light and dry flakes, generating excellent performance. The new
snowfall does not exhibit any significance resistance in it’s depth,
so there’s very good speed, and control moves are all very
responsive throughout its accumulations.

This is a singularly significant, early season, natural snow-storm event.

It will positively elevate all conditions overnight.

There Is A Lot Of Snow Thats Already Fallen,
There Is A Lot Of Snow Still Falling,
There Is More Snow Forecast To Fall...

Even some of the Pitches were getting better by the run.

However...
For the most part, photography today was impractical,
snow-smeared lens syndrome, white-out driven snow-filters,
soaked out control faults, so not a lot of useable pic’s.

Neither The Scale Of Beauty Or Performance At Tremblant
Can Be Conveyed By Words Or Cameras.
You Must Go Yourself.

Hard to say what the Official Total is for this Snow-Storm,
maybe, just a guess at 8(?), 10(?), 12(?) cms?

...not to mention there were 20 ---> 25 cm’s drift-in,
wind-generated, powder lines on multiple places like
the right descending trail edge of Beauchemin Haut, Upper.

If you can go tomorrow, you should make all the calls
you need to, first thing in the morning, while you’re on
the way(safely and hands-free, of course).

With Forecast Sunshine and 12C, Sud, South Base, the
key to comfort will be the low wind speed, @ N.W./8km’sPH.
There should be perceptible heat in the Solar rays where
ever you can find safe, sheltered, trail-side breaks.

Tomorrow and the weekdays ahead show “Best Of Season
So-Far” potentials in Groomed terrain.

If you’ve already made, or can make, plans to come
sometime in the next 5 days, you should congratulate
yourself on your great wisdom. It may be the smartest
thing you’ll do all week.

You Should Be Racing Over To Tremblant...

Basically...
it’s the end of the beginning,
and the beginning of the middle.

If you think about the Ski Seasons beginning as conveniently
attached to American Thanksgiving, then the period we are
entering into is the beginning of the Christmas/New Years period
that is only 2 weeks away.

If you looked at our Pre-Seasonal Weather outlook, we forecast
a combination of positive factors that could produce a “Super Season”
specifically defined by the relationship between predicted total
seasonal natural snowfall at, or above, 20% over the 21 year Average
seasonal accumulation.

The 21 year average is 416cm’s, therefore the “Super Season” @ 20%
more is rounded out to 500cm’s and at todays statistical accumulated
total of 103cm's, we have a most excellent start on that attainment.

Looking at it from another angle, as of today, we have 1/4 of the
average winters accumulation, and we’re only a bit over 2 weeks
into the season!

Any way you slice it, that’s a very good thing for a Ski Resort!

Above:
If you showed the pic. above to anyone with an interest in Skiing/Boarding,
and told them it was from the middle of January, they would believe you 100%.
If you showed the pic. above to anyone who started Skiing Tremblant in the
20th Century, they might guess mid-January as well. As we approach the shortest
day of the year on Dec. 21, the very long shadows of the low Sun over the Summit
cast a very sharp contrast over the trails on Versant Nord, the North Side. This
is an absolutely typical Early Winter scene at Tremblant that is greatly appreciated
by those of us who understand just how fortunate we are to have this much “Winter”
when it’s still technically “Fall” for another 2 weeks.

What this means is that if you’re sitting in Boston, Mass., U.S.A.,
Alton, Hampshire, England, or Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada,
thinking “Tremblant?”, the only answer you could possibly arrive
at is “Book NOW”!!! There are not many forms of reassurance more
compelling for Tremblant Ski/Board Fans or prospective Tremblant
trip planners than the sight of so much natural snow, so early in the season.

If you are a Regionally Local Tremblant Fan...

Toss your Skis/Board in your vehicle,
and leave for Tremblant this very instant.

Weather Notes:

Warming up substantially to -4C, from the overnight low of -18C.
We think todays benefit is going to be the performance of the
atmospherically cold-formed snowfall as the daytime temps
rise. The potential is Rocket-Fast and Super-Grip, PLUS...
what makes it so desirable for Experts, also makes it great
for Beginners and Intermediates in their respective Green
or Blue rated terrain, i.e., low friction, high traction. This
should be a very easy day for all Skill Levels.

Conditions Notes: (A, B & C)

A)
Today at noon, the 24Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser ends
and within that hour Mountain Crews usually begin to remove the
barriers so that the public can access the Event Course terrain.

The Event Course is some of the very finest Early Season Groomed
trail surface you will ever ski or board on. Period.

It has been meticulously prepared for weeks in order to render
24 Hours of the most durable smoothness possible for the marathon
participants, and now, with any luck, you should have access to most,
if not all of the elevated portions above the Sud, South Resort Base
at Johannsen.

Please Note: The Johannsen Sector is often not available until Monday
because of the huge logistic operation to remove the Event Stage
and reconfigure the trail surface from the Event Start/Finish, back to
the regular trail surface.

B)
Newly Opened Terrain very quickly, and positively responds to
Skier/Board traffic and repeated Night-Shift grooming cycles.

Tremblant’s Mountain Info.Ski Crew on Nansen Bas, Lower,
at “Last Run”, First Day Open for this trail, on Friday.

There is no question... that trails like Nansen Bas, Lower
(pictured above), that had an excellent Wall-To-Wall Opening
Friday, will be dramatically improving in the fineness of the
particle size from the initial mix that included some chunky bits.

This point will be equally applicable to mostly all newly opened,
groomed terrain. We say “Mostly”, because there are some exceptions
where weather factors for the first grooming renders initial surfaces of
extremely fine particle size of almost flawless consistency over entire
descents.

PLUS This Additional Enhancement...

Repeat excerpt from “Weather Notes”:

"We think todays benefit is going to be the performance of the
atmospherically cold-formed snowfall as the daytime temps
rise. The potential is Rocket-Fast and Super-Grip, PLUS...
what makes it so desirable for Experts, also makes it great
for Beginners and Intermediates in their respective Green
or Blue rated terrain, i.e., low friction, high traction. This
should be a very easy day for all Skill Levels."

C)

If you have discretionary Tremblant Ski/Board Planning ability
for the immediate future, you’d be crazy to miss this.

Page under progressive assembly.

It snowed again yesterday, through the night,
and it’s forecast to snow more today.
Good thing it’s a Ski Resort...
and...
it would also be a good thing if you were here!

Please Note: We have archived Weather and Traffic Observations
for Historic/Archival Purposes. We would like to point out that
for regular members of the Skiing and Boarding public who
may be concerned about the busy 24Hr. Children’s Charity
Event, there was no restriction to Mountain Lift access at all.
This was an excellent weekend of expanded and very well
prepared Open Terrain with relatively low public traffic and
we would encourage all Ski/Board Fans to attend in future for
all the benefits typically put in place for this weekend. Individual
pic. frames are accurately time stamped.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
