Easy Temps, Easy Conditions,
Total Coverage, Total FUN!!!

And on top of that, there’s room for more potential.

There’s enough new snow fallen, and still falling, that as
good as it is, ideal compaction and groomed trail surface
density may take an additional day or 2 to catch up with.

That extra thickness was a challenge for some Beginners and
Intermediates, so it was essential to remain within matched
Green and Blue Terrain for anyone who was sensitive to the
extra effort. As usual, Nansen and P’tit Bonheur were the
best examples of easy navigation.

You should read down through the original post below for
the Winter Weather Extreme Cold Warning for tomorrow
if you’re planing to attend over the next 3 days.
This Arctic Cold Air Mass is going to reach all the way South
to Florida, so the entire East Coast of North America is
going to feel it, but only the brave will be outside for it!

The skiing is going to be very fine, but... it’s definitely
going to require meticulous care in dressing for it.
If you want to meet “Winter” face-to-face...
Tomorrow’s your day!

More in the morning...

We Think There Is A Possibility Today Could Have
Some “Best Of Season, So-Far” Conditions.

The basic premise is that Jan.18, 2019 has, in our opinion,
potential to have some excellent “Best Of Season, So-Far”
conditions.

The fortunate, simultaneous, coincidence of synergistic,
principle, co-factors that are specifically beneficial to Alpine
Ski and Snowboard performance, include, but may not be
limited to:

1) Uninterrupted, 13 Multi-day Sustained 24 hr. Sub-Zero Temp’s
at Mountain Elevations.(1 day @ 0 C, Sud, South Resort Base)

2) 43 cm’s of Natural Snowfall in those 13 days.

3) More Natural Snowfall Forecast Overnight 1/18-->19.

4) Light, Single Digit Wind Values During Snowfall Event
should allow new snow to fall and be retained on trails without
being blown off.

5) 13 Nights of Accumulated Grooming Refinement and Optimized Compaction.

6) Another Night-Shift of Grooming Compaction.

7) “Squeaky” Cryogenic, Super-Cool, 100% Snow Base
from 1/17/19.

8) 1/18/19 Rising Temperatures to Daytime High of -9C.

9) Anecdotal Observations frequently referred to in the
topics of this Forum indicate typical increases in softness,
forgiveness, glide, and traction as temperatures rise in within
Sub-Zero C ranges. We estimate the statistical probability
of noticeable performance improvement at roughly 79.46728%(**)

9.a) Performance enhancements in rising Sub-Zero C
temp. ranges may be especially evident with over
22 C degree rise from yesterdays low to today’s high @ -9 C.

10) Very light mid-weekday traffic.

Even the possibility of such significance deserves highlight
for at least 2 reasons:

1) Notice you should “Escape To Ski” for today.
2) The ability to observe and identify this kind of potential
combination for future opportunity.

Weather Notes:

While today may be as wonderful as we think it
should be, tomorrow is obviously going to be
another Cold-Weather challenge. Prepare yourself.

Conditions Notes:

For Today... Excellent, As Per All Attached Above.

Groomed Specific:

After 2 weeks of steady temps and nightly grooming,
refinement continues to escalate daily potential.

Sous Bois, Hors Piste, Glades and Un-Groomed Specific:

2 days ago we projected favourable Nord, North, and
Edge sector lee-side drift-in and that opportunity still
exists due to very light mid-week traffic. The best powder
lines may be pretty much tracked by now, however,
with over 43cm’s, nearly a foot and a half of natural
snowfall in the last 2 weeks, there is a substantial overall
increase in "Go-Anywhere", glitch-free quality.

A Sweet, Warmer, Easier Day That
Only Wants YOU, To Be Complete!

(**) Just kidding, that’s a joke, there’s no really
practical way to compute the exact odds, however,
based on decades of observational analytics, we
would say it’s very safe to say this phenomenon
falls into life’s general 80/20 principles, i.e., when
these conditions exist, or are accurately forecasted,
80% of the time we see similar positive outcomes.
