Weekend Editorial:

This pic. above is actually about 36 hours old, but yesterday was so snow-filtered
that for the most part, you could not see more than a few metres, on top
of which the blowing snow was so thick, it rendered the camera into
default shut-down mode due to snow-soaked, wet controls. There is
another 17 cm’s of Official Snowfall, but it should look very similar
with this mornings grooming, and hopefully, it should perform exactly
the same or better.

The “S” shaped tracks beside the Skis where made by these same
Skis within a few seconds before this shot was taken, and if you look
closely at the part of the turn between the alternating arch’s(technically
called the “Traverse”), you’ll see the tracks get very faint, or disappear.
This is because the Skis were actually in the air at that moment.
There was sufficient lateral grip in the turning energy to bend the Skis
into the turn, and in the “Traverse”, that bending energy was released
with enough spring-force upward, to lift the Skis and Skier off the ground...
on every turn. This is an amazing performance zone, like all the Groomed
terrain should be today, and in this case, it’s on a Green trail, so you may be
able to imagine how much more turning energy could be generated
on Blue, or Black rated Trails of steeper inclines. The real question is...
Do you have enough Muscle to do this all day? Are You Ready For Tremblant?

The bottom line on this point is that Tremblant is ready for you, and we
think about 90% of people are going to run out of muscle, way, way before they
run out of Tremblant!

This is where you realize that the technical merit of Tremblant’s
Snow-White Slopes is everything you need to make an Olympic
Gold Medal Snowboarder like Jasey-Jay Anderson, the technical
merit of Tremblant’s Snow-White Slopes is everything you need
to make a FIS Super G/Downhill, World Cup Champion like Erik Guay,
and if Tremblant is good enough to make World Class Elite Champions,
it will help bring out the very best you can be on your Ski Holiday here. Period.

------ End of editorial, so stop reading and go skiing! ----------

Otherwise... Oh Boy... there’s so much fresh snow here folks
in the community don’t know what to do with it all. The roads
are getting so narrow inside snowbanks that it’s not safe for
passing two-way traffic in places. The Snowbanks are so tall,
you can’t see over or around them and it’s literally not safe
to pull out of some driveways or turn some corners. The municipal
workers have been going around the clock with Industrial
Snowblowers, Graders, Earth Movers, Plows, Back-Hoes,
Front-End Loaders and Dump Trucks for 4 days and they can not
keep up with it.

Skiers and Snowboarders are going Crazy with delight and
all you see are permanent smiles frozen in place under
everyones goggles. When we say “Frozen” we don’t mean
from cold, because it’s not cold, we mean “Locked” in place
because it’s so much fun you can’t stop smiling. Within each
Skill Level Terrain Rating, i.e., Green, Blue, and Black, there
is so much easy fun or challenge for everyone that it’s almost
overwhelming, just trying to figure out whether you should
take another run on that last super-sweet trail, or try another
one that might be even more fun?

The bottom line on this point is that as long as you are within
realistically matched terrain with your actual skill level, you simply
can not make a bad decision, and your day is going to be excellent.

Anyone that tells you it’s too much or not easy, is on terrain
above their real skills and they should dial it down a level until
it is easy. Alternately, anyone that tells you it’s too much or
not easy is forgetting that Skiing is a “Sport”, and if you want
really easy, then “Sports” are not where they should be, and
you should remind them that the chair lift they are whining on
is not the same as the comfy couch they should be looking for.

Speaking of “Chair Lifts”...

Today, and the following weeks of School Breaks/Reading Weeks,
will be the first time for many regular/annual Ski Holiday Guests
to see and experience the wonder and utility marvel of the Brand
New Lowell Thomas High Speed Detachable Quad Chair Lift.

You can now do 8 Minute, completed laps on most of the terrain
directly served by the new Lowell Thomas Quad. This is an utter
and unmitigated JOY! We predicted that this sector may become
a more significant destination within Tremblant, and as such, it
has revolutionized our own use of the entire upper versant Nord,
North Side sector, simply because it only takes about 3.75 minutes
to get back to the top.

Conditions Notes:

In the Groomed:
There are still zones of thickness that are not yet
compacted to ideal density because there was so
much snowfall in such a short time that the “Loft”
or airspace within the total depth, requires multiple
passes with the machines, even at 12,500Lbs. There
is enough “Float” in the current 76cm’s, that it may take
between 2 to 4 days of repeated grooming cycles to get
there, and in the mean-time, those zone may be prone
to mogul formations.

Traffic will play a major part as we are entering into the
“Spring Break” time period, so moguls may be more
pronounced at the end of the day.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste and Un-Groomed:
There are still reports of “Face-Shot” Powder Lines in
secret locations the locals don’t talk with strangers about.
That’s sort-of a joke, but non-the-less, they may be there for
a day or two longer, until the really adventuresome folks
who are willing to bushwhack long distances get tired
of wading through deep snow laterally along the ridges
where the good Sous Bois descent lines are. Otherwise
in the Un-Groomed, anyone that really likes moguls may
think they’ve died and somehow made it to Heaven.

Please Note: Mountain Open Weekend Hours To 16:00hrs/4:00 P.M.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
