Conditions That Make YOU Look Good!

Conditions Notes:

What we should have today is Cryogenic Snow, super cool, very
dry, crystalline snow that has excellent grip and traction. It can
also have higher rates of friction until a bit of daytime rising
temps may allow some restoration of glide properties.

Consequently, steeper terrain may initially be easier with a bit
of natural braking effect. Most Skiers and all(**) Snowboarders may
perceive some slopes as having a bit of “Drag” on lesser pitches
and across plateaus. Boarders will want to pump the board on
runout’s in order to avoid having to take a foot out.

Otherwise, what everyone gets is an increased level
of forgiveness in surfaces that make those little learning
slip-ups easy to correct or recover from, and less potential
for runaway scenarios in the case of Beginners and Intermediates.
For Experts, enhanced control on steep descents as well
as snow that shreds a great edge with predictable traction
through the entire turn sequence are common performance
benefits with cryogenic snow.

(**)In the case of higher friction cryogenic snow, skiers do have
a mechanical advantage over snowboarders in-so-far-as the use
of independent leg action to exert a skating action for accelerated
forward propulsion over shallow pitch angles if there is higher friction.

Rates of friction can be relative in the generic sense that if you
were here yesterday, today may, could, might, seem “Slower”
or “Faster” from a one day to the next comparison, while
someone freshly arriving does not perceive it the same way
without the immediately preceding experience.

Weather Notes:

We Are Not Alone...
East Coast Regional Perspective:
The Kkool weather extends all the way South to Chicago Ill.
to just above Long Island New York, where they also have
heavy snowfall warnings from Traverse City Michigan, through
to Boston Mass. today.

O.K., So the Ski Conditions are very “Cool”,
Then... there's the KKkkool part...
Then... there’s an amazing part, because as cool as it is
this morning, it will actually feel warmer than yesterday
at Sunrise because the windchill is virtually gone. (See Above)
Even though yesterday morning was 10 degrees C warmer,
@ -21C the net windchill yielded -37 C with 50KMPH winds.
Today will feel warmer all the way around as long as
the “Breezes” stay “Breezes”.

With low wind speed and sunshine, you will actually
be able to feel “Heat” in the solar rays where you can
safely stop in any calm, trail-side sunny location.
With the sun this high in the sky, the more direct
path of the radiation through the atmosphere can
generate warmth quickly in the absence of air movement.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
