T360 Mid-Evening Apres Ski Edit, Under Progressive(as time permits)
Construct @ 8:23 P.M.

Imagine You Could Ski At This Level Of Performance All Day...

Considering the whacky weather cycle 48 hours ago, the performance
today was surprisingly better than we thought it might be.
In many places, it was if Icy had never existed???

You Can If You’re At Tremblant.

Imagine You Could Ski Like That, In A Place As Beautiful As This...

When you’re at Tremblant, you need to stop and let the natural beauty
draw you into the spectacular, almost intimately quiet waypoints Mother
Nature has provided you at every turn between the Summit and the Base.

You Can If You’re At Tremblant.

The scenery is beyond capture by any known camera or imaging device.
There’s just no way to photographically embrace the depth and breadth,
the scope of it all. Artists have been trying to capture this iconic Laurentian
scenery for hundreds of years, you can Ski through it as soon and as often
as you can, right here at Tremblant.

Back to the technical side of the Skiing...

There were examples of fine Skiing everywhere, however there was
also a consensus amongst regulars that Versant Nord/North Side
Expo Peak, Expo Quad serviced Open Terrain was uniquely sweet
within the array.

In our experience, we found higher levels of lateral traction
than we expected, and over a wider range than we expected.
Grooming has been quicker at rendering out both slickness
and icy bits and we think Mountain Crews had noteworthy
assistance from Mother Nature in 2 ways. The first was abundant
natural snow beyond forecast. The second was the Kkkkkoooler
than expected overnight low temps which we think had the
net effect of cryogenically zapping all the humidity out of
all surfaces.

The slight and variable degree of friction that’s been around
for a day or two, almost completely vanished. That was
something you noticed today as primarily an enhanced glide
on plateau's or onto trail runout’s that could carry you farther
with less necessity to skate skis or pump board.

Above, you are looking back at the Lowell Thomas Quad Base
about a third of the way over the plateau to the top crest of the
Beauchemin Bas, Lower, pitch at the entrance to the Edge Sector.
Crossing this plateau from either Beauchemin Haut, Upper or
P’tit Bonheur was quite effectively done with only gravity assist
today. Yesterday, crossing this same span required some additional
skating steps to sustain speed. This increase in glide was universal
over the whole Mountain.

When groomed as you see above, the current trail snow is fast and
quite capable of reliable high performance edge hold. It is a joy
to have confidence in turn after turn without encountering any
loss of grip for a chosen descent line.

Speaking of “Grooming”...

As well as regular flat and level trail grooming, Mountain Crews
provide popular forms of Contour Grooming for variety and this
case-in-point example below is on Versant Nord/North Side,
Trail # 79, Sissy Schuss Haut, where there is a substantial
change from the Park Module line that has been there up til now.

We will have more on this project in the morning report.

For Tomorrow...

Forecast a lot warmer by about 4 or 5 degrees C, and
most importantly, another night of Grooming refinement with
a nice cool ambient temp keep the snow nicely chilled.
On that basis, we could see another major step forward in
performance across all Skill Levels in sustained speed, glide,
and smoothness that is a natural progression in incremental
quality when the temps remain 24Hr's Sub-Zero for sequential days.

All this adds up to a “Go If You Can” advisory.
It’s that good now, and getting better by the day.

Everything You Need To Know.

If there was only one basis for understanding the potential of
the Tremblant Alpine Ski/Board Trail Network today, it would
have to start with this:

12.15.19 T360 Proof Of Snow.

We can tell you for a fact, there are 30cm’s(and more) Drift Lines
within the range of Open Terrain at Tremblant. The Official Snowfall
stat is 23cm’s over 48 hours. When groomed into an integrated
finished trail surfacing, there should be very fine conditions that
with light weekday traffic, have all-day durability.

Weather Notes:

Welcome to Kool, Crisp, Snow White Winter!

We say “Kool” because at 8:55 A.M. it is still -20C. That is
well below the projected temp for this hour and at this rate
it will likely take longer to reach the daytime high, or it may
not reach the forecast high value at all. Either way, the “Sunny”
part is absolutely joyful! The indicated wind speed values are
relatively low, so riding up the TGV, you may actually feel some
“Heat” on your back! The Nord/North may seem totally calm... Nice!

Conditions Notes:

We are entering into an extended period of stable Sub-Zero C’s
that should generate a continuous rising escalation of Open Groomed
trail surface refined quality.

This is applicable to all Skill Level Rated Terrain.

If it’s “Open”, it’s gunna' get better by the day, and
for the early season so-far, it’s been great to begin with.

Conditions Caveat: There may be some icy bits/zones where the
recent warm weather allowed pooling to occur, however every single
day that those bits get repeated Night-Shift Grooming, should reduce
them significantly, to the point most of them will be undetectable.
Some exceptions may exist, particularly below crests and on the very
steepest pitches where icy bits can linger. Consequently, today and all
other days should warrant care with speed and control on initial descents
to confirm safe passage.

The essence of Tremblant’s basic quality can be seen in
our very first season 19/20 “Proof Of Snow”. As we head into
solidly “Winter” patterns of weather, look for expanding
Open Terrain and steady elevations upwards in performance
quality across all Trail-Rated Skill Levels.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
