T360 Mid-evening Apres Ski Edit, Under Construction @ 8:06 P.M.

Today At Tremblant was a kinder,
more gentle version of yesterday.

You might also say(?)... “All of the Flavour, None of the Calories”?

i.e., we had all the advantages of super-cool snow, but without
so much cool, so warmer temps... And... Practically No Wind.

Pictures For Your Review.
We will post additional text as time permits, however...
If you don’t get the basic message about spectacular
conditions Tremblant from these, have a Doctor check
your pulse immediately because there is something terribly wrong...

The scenery at Tremblant today was surreal.
It was like some strangely beautiful “Other Planet” scene
from a Star Wars movie...

Flyin’ Over The Clouds...

Below:
Versant Soleil Peak Access Trail(#40), Franc Sud
was actually quite easy. No icy bits at all, and it
remained totally Mogul Free all day long.

We will discuss Versant Soleil Trail (#95) Algonquin as a continuing
Case Study for the sake of continuity following previous posts about
the evolution of Trail Conditions on this excellent descent path.

Basically, todays re-opening followed the earlier week warm,
so there are courser particle sizes that should respond very
favourably with another Night-Shift of Grooming. There was
an optimized descent path on the left side going down,
about 5 to 7 metres wide off the trail edge, that was superbly
soft and fine-particles. It was really excellent for reliable,
full-tilt, short radius, carved, 12 metre Slalom grip, practically
the entire Summit-To-Base length of the trail.

It is possible that tonights grooming may render up to the entire width to
close, or the same level, which is fairly typical of the incremental rise in
refinement we often see with consecutive complete 24hr. sub-zeroC days.
This is already an excellent “today" example of synergistic quality with
Mother Natures Cryo-Snow and Mountain Crews Grooming Talent, plus, it
still has tremendous evolving potential.

What you don’t see in this pic. is the billions of tiny airborne
particles that made it seem as if you were skiing through
microscopically light-refracted star-dust. The camera perceived
them as filters.

This is why you choose Tremblant.
Real, Genuine, Authentic Winter.

Today, regardless of your Skill Level, you get all the performance
of authentic winter snow that has had a Cryogenic shock in the
form 2 consecutive -20 C overnight lows. This “Cold Snap” as
many refer to it, has rendered its very positive effects over the
entire Mountain simultaneously and it is a truly impressive
outcome, particularly in the groomed terrain where the the
performance characteristics of the trail surfaces are at so-far,
seasonal “Best Of” levels.

Not only is the Groomed terrain almost seamlessly smooth with
incredibly even and uniform depths of traction, but it’s FAST...
One skate off the bottom of Fuddle-Duddle Bas, Lower, gets you
all the way to the Duncan Quad Base. One skate off of Nansen
at Mi Chemin and one skate at the foot of Alpine, you can glide
all the way to the TGV Quad Base. If you’ve been here for even
a single day prior, the speed difference yesterday was immediately
noticeable on your first run. We expect all of that again today.

Page under Progressive Assembly...
More following but don’t even think about
waiting, if you can go, jamb your gear in
the vehicle and rev out of town the minute
you see this.

Conditions Notes:

Cryogenic Snow is snow that has been subjected to very low
temperatures. The low temp exposure changes the performance
qualities of the snow when it achieves what we refer to as
“Squeaky” audible signs as you walk over it. Between roughly
-15C down to about -25 C, this typically results in desirable
speed and edge set hold qualities. A review of winter days
of similar temps within this archive will show dozens, maybe
hundreds of references to how beneficial this cool treatment
is to Groomed Alpine Trail Surfaces, and this case is no different.

“Best Of” Seasonal So-Far Groomed Conditions,
and in the Sous Bois, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed...
The 30 odd Cm’s of fresh 2 days ago really
brought things up, especially on Nord/North,
but its still early season, so appropriate care
is required on all initial explorations.
