T360 Late Evening Apres Ski Edit, Under Construction @ 10:47 P.M.

Here’s What We Did At Tremblant All Day...

Exactly as we had projected, the performance across all Skill Level
rated Groomed Terrain was spectacular. Above you see the obvious lateral
grip on Black Diamond McCulloch’s Summit Level Pitch. Below you see
the magnificently smooth cruising on Green Versant Soleil Algonquin.
Superb in both cases.

This is symbolic of the natural beauty that all the great skiing
took place in today...

Tomorrow:

A Wee Bit Cooler, Full Sun,
And Moderate North Breezes, PLUS...
Another Night-Shift Of Grooming,
so our forecast is:

“Average Will Be Excellent!"

(To a large degree because of the overall implications of the next photo below...)

Proof Of Snow.

This is over a 160cm’s(#) untracked Powder Drift line in an
Open Sous Bois, Hors Piste, Glade Zone at Tremblant.

((#) The reason we say “over 160cm’s” is because we could not
push the ski vertically any further in due to the rearward facing
Ski Brake Assembly and Heel Binding jamming up with snow.
For that reason, we are not actually sure how deep this Drift
Line is.)

We have been writing about the favourable accumulations that
can be over the Official Statistical Totals for both individual and
overall snowfalls generated by unique weather factors combined
with Mountain topography for weeks, and we think the above Pic.
sums that up pretty well. This is real, and if you are a legitimate
Expert with a taste for Open Hors Piste exploration, you can find
this, and other similar descent lines today. It is not like this
everywhere, but the fact that it exists anywhere is what’s noteworthy.

For us, one of the most impressive aspects of this observation is
the part regarding “Untracked”. Despite 1000’s of Guest Visits,
maybe even 100,000’s of Guest visits, Tremblant still has
“Untracked”, never skied, open, available right this second,
reserves of very deep fresh snow that have not seen human passage.

It’s not as if our “Proof Of Snow” dated case study is something that
will be used by the average recreational Ski/Board Tremblant Guest
either, this deep, untracked all natural snow is quite challenging
for any experience level, but, there’s no doubt that it is a brilliantly
simple indicator of the fabulous amount and quality of snow that
has been integrated into the surrounding sectors of the groomed
trail network.

The benefit of abundant seasonal snow is Mountain-wide to variable
degrees. Going back over the records here will show that snow has
fallen in wind directions of virtually all 4 Compass-Points that have,
in their turn, generated uniquely large accumulations, so all 4 Sectors
of Tremblant are now showing this seasonal maturity in the elevated
overall quality over the entire Alpine Domain.

Above: A “LightBulb” Simple, Brilliant Trail Modification That Delivers Real Utility.

Above:
In addition to the outright advantages of tons of natural snow, the above
pic. taken on the Duncan Quad final rise to the Summit is an excellent
example of how Tremblant Mountain Op’s is evolving terrain in very positive
ways. The old, traditional approach to the Duncan Trail Summit Pitch was a
very narrow, constricted path over the very top crest. This comparatively
tiny but both wind and traffic focused spot has been a very difficult zone
since 1948. By expanding the Duncan Trail (#59), to the full width of the
Summit crest, taking over the former peak rise of Trail # 62, “Saute Moutons”,
Mountain Op’s has in one simple stroke, vastly improved the utility of this
descent by reducing the traffic stress caused by narrow width at a critical point.
The physical advantage here now is that all Skiers/Boarders have virtually
double the width to traverse the Duncan Trail below the Summit Crest. Twice as
much space to traverse immediately makes it sooooo much easier for anyone to
access all the fabulous terrain below the Duncan sector peak. The Devils River
and Duncan Bas, Lower trails, both wonderful examples of easily enjoyable
Tremblant terrain, are now within far easier reach of average Tremblant Guests.

Below:
Getting to this fabulous terrain on Versant Nord, North Side Trail #57,
Devil’s River, is now far easier with the wider Duncan Summit entrance.
The entire descent has a far more even skill level requirement, yet the
variable pitch angles along the way offer some really thrilling speed
opportunities where a variety in applied turning radius allow you to take
advantage of the natural smooth steps in topographical contours. So
much fun it’s worth a second, maybe even a third lap!

Weather Notes:

After even a couple of days of “Warm”, today’s drop in temps
are going seem a bit cool, but it’s still very comfortable by any
usual “Winter” standards. Press on...

Conditions Notes:

With temps dropping after just flirting with Zero C over the last
couple of days, we are expecting to see a “Firming Up” trend
that may or may not begin to exhibit some icy bits, maybe.

On a more general note, the firming trend should mean wicked fast
inherent speed, way more glide, and lower friction over top-to-bottom
descent lines.

If it goes the way we think it will, last nights grooming will have
rendered some truly magnificent surfaces across all Skill Level
rated terrain and this will mean that all the advantages that
Experts find today will be the very same for Beginners and
Intermediates, simultaneous low friction and high traction.

With Any “Firming" Due To Dropping Temp’s... Edges on Skis/Board
are critical for optimized safety and fun. If you are not having almost
the most fun day you’ve ever had on the slopes today, if you can’t
feel absolute edge grip without skidding out... take your Skis/Board
to the Ski Shop at the base of the P1- Cabriolet, in the Chalet des Voyaguers.
Their crazy-good overnight tune-up price is the bargain of the decade
for the pure fun of a day on the slopes. Period.

Quiet Mid-Week days offer an opportunity
to rack up serious vertical on very well
prepared groomed slopes. It’s not difficult
to get 25 to 30,000 Vert.Ft per day with
virtually no lift lines and the inherent speed
in these surfaces. Excellent exercise and
truly better than any Gym on the Planet.
