3/9/20 #Tremblant Conditions

95(*)Open Trails on Versant Sud/South, Versant Nord/North and Versant Soleil
at #Tremblant . The Edge Sector is Off-Line today.
It’s a “Gap” Week,
And to start with, for two reasons(see below),
today is supposed to look something like this:
3.7.20.Nord.North.Beauchemin.Haut.Upper.Wow.Speed.Performance.d.jpg
Reason 1) Sunny and Warm Forecast.
Reason 2) Gap Week Low Traffic. You will probably have to wait to see people.
Yesterday was the final day of the Quebec School Holiday
and the Ontario School Holiday does not start until this
Saturday, so what we have here is a brief, but potentially
quiet gap, a “Value Week” of light traffic and full “Winter”
trail coverage.
Frankly, we were surprised at the light traffic on the weekend,
so now that it's a regular work week, you may find yourself alone
for most of the day. Freshly groomed trails may well still
have Corduroy at Last Run.
Below:
This picture of the Summit Info.Ski Crew is about 38 hours
old, but one of the reasons we took it then is for exactly what is
happening now, the changes in the “Open Trails” list that are
beginning to occur for any number of totally legitimate reasons.
Today is the first day in 40 days the Mountain has not been fully Open.
Whenever that occurs, and for whatever reasons, consulting with
Tremblant’s unique Info.Ski Crews in their distinctive Yellow/Red
uniforms with the big “?” on the back, adds an advantage to any
Guest day at Tremblant with up to the minute Mountain Trail Intel.

40 Consecutive Days Of Fully Open... Wow.
This has been a very durable “Winter”(#) portion
of this season.
We’re not sure if that’s any kind of record, but
if someone wants to scroll through a few thousand
posts here, it would be possible to figure that out...
(#) This is allowing for 3 separate and distinct time
periods within any Ski Season, including “Fall” or early
season, say up to between Christmas and New Years
day, then “Winter”, from around the beginning of
January, through to early March, then “Spring”,
from mid-March to whenever the Mountain closes
in April.
Weather Notes:
We are happy to report that even though there are rain icons
in the forecast, the “Environment Canada Weather Warning”
that was there yesterday for Monday night into Tuesday has
been removed. What we hope for is considerably less precip.
in any liquid form, and maybe the potential of Snow at Mountain
Elevations? At +6C, the optimistic hope for snow has a lower
range probability, but anytime temp ranges are within a few
single digit “+” degrees, it sometimes happens that cooler air
strata at higher atmospheric elevations above the Mountain
produce snow while base levels get rain.
Bring your Descente Poncho for tomorrow just in case...

and to provide insight to the evolving forecast models.
Conditions Notes:
Great “Super Spring" for today!
The residual underlaying frost should hold very quick
mogul resistant conditions all day in the groomed today.
There is very little traffic, so even less wear influence
than there might be if it was a School Holiday. The chosen
few here today will have a gorgeous day and will actually
need sunscreen to avoid “Racoon” eyes and sunburnt cheeks.
Grab these conditions if you can today, because evidently, the weather
is going to generate some big changes for tomorrow and on.

Thanks for your visit!
As we get set for the normal shift in weather to more Spring-like
conditions, we want to remind one-and-all that the abundance
of very fine ski conditions is not going anywhere for a long
period of time measured in weeks.
There’s simply way too much snow, and way too much
supporting frost depth under the base to diminish coverage
for the foreseeable future.
That is not to say the available Open Trail list may be selectively
reduced on any given day, as it has been our observation that
Mountain Crews sometimes close trails for strategic maintenance
and/or preservation.
If anything, the signs of Spring and the inevitable seasonal changes
should be some of the most powerful motivators for genuine Ski/Board
fans to get out on the slopes as soon and as often as possible before
it becomes “Golf” season.... Yikes !!!! Go Skiing Now If You Can!!!
Hard to believe, but only 5 weeks left...
