Out Of The Fog Comes Hope For New Open Trails...

Out Of The Fog Comes Proof Of Performance.
12.9.20.Beauvallon.Haut.Upper.Bottom.Pitch.Fresh.Snowfall.Carving.Performance.Long.Telephoto.Observations.e.jpg
Above:
This is a very long telephoto taken from the bottom
of the last pitch on Beauvallon Haut, Upper, adjacent
to the upper entrance to the Alpine Park. The Skier is
descending at about the 1/3 mark from the top of the
pitch here. The focus and resolution are soft due to the
ambient snow-fog acting as a very effective filter, but
after extended processing, we think it captures the
essence of the performance in the new snow today
quite well. You can see there is very good lateral edge-set,
quite capable of reliably holding considerable centrifugal force.
We had to work a bit for the speed today as the new snow
has a higher inherent level of friction than we’ve experienced
recently, but that did not take away anything from the great
skiing experience, it just made pitches like this easier. If you
were not here yesterday, you would not notice it at all. There
was the odd little icy bit, but with limited open terrain, multiple
runs over the trails that are open allowed you to easily pick out
the best lines.
For Tomorrow:

Some Of The Very Best Signs Of
A Great Winter Approaching...
12.8.20.Summit.Signs.Of.A.Great.Winter.Approaching.At.Rope.Tow.Ent.Lowell.T.Sector.c.jpg
More natural snowfall happening right this second,
plus... a TON of snowmaking ongoing on a 24hour
basis over the trails listed on the Official PDF below.
If you are here, you can see these great signs of
winters future being built before your eyes.
A Day On The Slopes Will Have You
Head Over Heels In Love With Tremblant.
12.8.20.Sud.South.Alpine.Bas.Lower.Progression.Go.Big.Park.Tricks.jpg
Being “Head Over Heels” enthusiastic is never a problem
for the most dedicated Tremblant Fans, especially during
the seasons opening sequence of days. After months of
being off the slopes, even more-so this year with all the
concerns about Covid-19, the sense of appreciation for the
privileges we have now is particularly keen.
The pic. above is one of several we got from friends in the Park
yesterday and we’ll add the others as time permits processing.
We really appreciate their willingness to show us some of their
finest tricks! Please Note: We attempt Park photography regardless
of weather. In this case there was atmospheric snowmaking cloud,
so the slight hazy, or soft focus edges is an inherent factor in this
ambient shooting environment.
The self-induced “Snowvercast”, i.e., cloud generated by snowmaking,
gave portions of the Mountain a very sort-of spooky ghost-like appearance.
Fortunately, it was cool enough that the dryness in the particles did not
affect goggle lens at all.
12.8.20.Summit.TGV.Snowvercast.Views.Over.LaCrete..jpg
Weather Notes:
More Natural Snowfall, Overnight, and Forecast To Continue All Day!!!
Today, our other very most single important weather factor, regardless of temp’s,
no/low wind. Wind intensifies either chill or heat. Zero wind also means snow
stays where it falls, so those wide open trails that can be prone to being figurative
wind tunnels are getting, and keeping straight down snowfall that stays put
instead of being pushed off into the surrounding bush. On top of that, the
temps are rising to -1C by this afternoon, so it’s going to be a Snow White
easy day of Skiing/Boarding.
Conditions Notes:
Beginners Mountain Utility Notice:
The Summit Level extension of La Crete that bypasses the top Nansen
pitch, just above the main pitch/Nansen Haut/Upper, “S”, and technically
joins with Trail #1, Bon Vivant, is Open. This allows Beginners an easy
way to bypass the steeper bit that can be prone to slick or icy patches.
At this stage it is not only a big functional asset for Beginners, but it
is also one of the most beautiful natural settings on the Mountain.
12.8.20.Sud.South.La.Crete.Extension.To.Nansen.Haut.Upper.Open.d.jpg
Snowmaking Utility Notice:
There is an immense snowmaking effort going on at Tremblant
right now. We’re not sure if we can remember a recent time
when there was such a huge visible amount going on simultaneously.
The way we understand it, the secret to rendering the most natural
feeling blown snow is the atomization of minute water droplets to
uniformly precise consistency as they come out of the gun while
under adequate temp’s, that’s what really gets the job done. What you
see below is the result. If you stand here for a minute and watch what is
actually coming out, and how it is forming real snow that is falling
to accumulate as very a very fine, as in small, crystalline structure,
you are getting a glimpse into what we will have for an excellent
trail base within the next week or so.
12.8.20.Nord.North.Duncan.Quad.Base.Snowmaking.Observations.d.jpg
The Synergistic Effect:
If you add up these two things:
1)
More Natural Snowfall, Overnight, and Forecast To Continue All Day!!!
And
2)
"There is an immense snowmaking effort going on at Tremblant
right now."
...you should be able to arrive at a logical conclusion about
the near-term development expansion of Open Terrain we
expect to see very soon at Tremblant.
Otherwise, the existing trail base is going to do nothing other than
get better and better with all this low/no wind, mostly straight down
snow that’s falling now. If it was good to begin with, it promises to be
great afterwards and like every other seasons startup, it’s another step
forward in the direction of winter.
