-------------------- 9:36 A.M Update ------------------

Breaking News: Versant Nord/North Side Beauchemin Haut/Upper OPEN!!!

This is the first significant terrain addition since Opening Day so
we are recording the moment on an “As It Happens” basis.

------------------------------------------------------------

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Winter.

Skiers and Boarders have had to be content with the initial
trail inventory since Opening Day. It’s very fortunate that
the original list was so fully developed to begin with. Any
season that Opens with Summit-To-Base on both Sud/South
and Nord/North is a great season. Statistically, that’s only
happened 5 times in over 80 years of history, so we have
much to be thankful for.

From what we hear, the Open Terrain is set to expand to near
double, probably within 48 hours from now, but in the meantime,
what we’ve been doing is lap training, as we do at the beginning of
every season.

No amount of Off-Season exercise can duplicate the exact muscle
activation that the actual sport does. For that reason, anyone lucky
enough to have any form of season’s pass and the ability to get out
on a regular basis can benefit from an extended multi-day training
regimen that builds Ski/Board specific muscle recruitment.

For us, and with all due respect, the seasons startup has less to do with
variety, it has more to do with the positive mind-set of performing rep’s
to build muscle and endurance. If you told your friends you were going
to the gym to do “rep’s” for a few hours, no one would blink an eye. In
that sense, early ski season training for muscle building and endurance
conditioning fulfill exactly the same function, but when your “Gym” is
within the exquisitely beautiful natural domain of Tremblant, the overall
training experience is incomparably superior. Additionally, the differences
in natural human hormonal response, i.e., endorphin/adrenaline release
timing and volume, to the active dynamics of the performed Ski-specific
sport skills is arguably at quicker, higher, and more sustained levels than
any indoor gym environment could ever induce.

The summary on this point is that we have been, are, and will always be, both
grateful and thrilled to be able to do early season continuous lapping on the
Mountains total vertical for these express purposes and reasons.

Conditions Notes:

There was a slightly higher friction rate in the new snowfall
that came yesterday, but you would not notice that unless
you had been here the day before. The point is, that if you
want to optimize speed, Ski/Board base waxing for this temp.
range is recommended for the best results. From a functional
standpoint, the little extra resistance made control on steeper
pitches easier, so we try to take advantage of that to work on
technique for increased pitch angles.

Important Repeat:

Better Than Any Gym On The Planet.

In todays opening paragraphs we talk about being
content with lapping on the available open terrain
and we want to reenforce that the quality of the workout
is excellent. Consistent lapping at a sustainable pace
wakes up just about every muscle group from head to toe
and by the end of the day you can feel and identify every
single one of them. Not only is Skiing excellent exercise,
but in the midst of a Global Covid-19 Pandemic, Skiing is
infinitely safer than any gym on the planet.

We say the bottom lines on all these point are:
“Them who adapts the quickest, has the most fun.”
or, in the case of seasons startup, “Them who does
the most lapping, gets the most muscle.”

They’re Workin’ On It !!!

This Versant Nord/North Beauchemin Haut/Upper shot
is only one example of many where Mountain Op’s can
be seen working on the tremendous range of scheduled
new terrain openings. As they get closer to finished stages
we’ll try to capture some of that, but as you can see, the
general snow-fog sometimes makes it a challenge to get
good pictures. In some cases, you can literally hear machines
working, but you can’t see them. What we know for sure is
that when the new terrain is safely ready to open, it should
be at very high levels of initial quality.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
