No doubt, as you can take from the evident smoothness above, Duncan
Haut/Upper is more user friendly across skill levels than what you will
see below with Duncan Bas/Lower, which is a genuine, authentic, Black
Diamond Mogul Run that requires significant technical ability as well as
raw muscle to navigate safely.

Experts have not had much real steep’s challenge up to now, but Duncan
Bas/Lower runs parallel and adjacent to the lower part of the EXPO pitch,
so there are bits of similar steepness, but with more steps. When we got there
in the mid-afternoon, the moguls were large and tight from a lot of traffic, so
it was the most mogul workout of the season so-far.

Duncan is in the afternoon shade as we approach the shortest day of the year
and there is very low contrast light in the lower sections of the Nord/North, so
you do not have the contrast to define the moguls well in this pic. below, but
you should be easily able to see the steepness as a relief across the top portion
of the visible run here.

Part of what is contributing to Black Diamond moguls on Duncan Bas/Lower,
is that the trail is not yet available at full width, so multi-skill-level users
are compelled to turn within narrower dimensions and that concentration
of traffic flow has made some pretty good size bumps with a somewhat
irregular pattern.

If you are an Expert Mogul Hound, get to Duncan Bas/Lower later in the
day, you just scored a real mogul field.

Please Note that all other pre-existing ski conditions are improving
across all skill levels, with elevations in refinement from another arrival
of natural snowfall.

It was snowing a lot of the day, and almost all afternoon, well
past “Last Run”, so we’ll have more in the morning on how that
may have added up when we get a sunrise look at the ongoing
mild weather.

More Open Terrain For The Weekend.

Yesterday was another day where you could hear the machines working,
but for the most part, you could not see them. Still, the huge effort of
Mountain Crews is directly visible today in the Open Trail List PDF. below,
and... we can tell you for a fact, the quality is very high.

Versant Nord/North, Duncan Bas/Lower, plus Vanier
from the Expo Quad Peak, plus... Duncan Haut/Upper
to follow, on “Progressive” status opening for today.

All this in addition to the fantastic Versant Sud/South Side
opening of Nansen Bas/Lower, in superb, wall-to-wall finished
width.

Unfortunately, yesterdays pic’s for posting today are not ideal. The Skiing
was very near ideal, but in such a foggy atmosphere that sight-lines were
severely restricted by densely floating fog passing over the Mountain. Within
the brief clear spans, we took what we could. Sorry about that, but it was a
warm and relatively dry fog so we did not experience any goggle residues,
and the relative warmth meant that for us, skiing with goggles up was the
best way to go for about 80% of the day. There was not a single drop of
rain all day.

Below:
Here’s a sample of the Summit view of the new Versant Sud/South
Taschereau trail opening. Please note the upper frame of the Soleil
Quad is the structure you see in the top left corner of this pic.frame.

This trail has been opened Un-Groomed with the snowmaking
big bumps in place.

We welcome simultaneous On-Line Guests to T360
this morning from IP codes at:

Ashburn, Virginia, USA.
Dallas, Texas, USA.
Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.
Washington DC., USA.
Mountain View, California, USA.
Chicago, Illinois, USA.

We realize that there are many, many folks from around the
world that would be normally looking forward to a Ski Holiday
at Tremblant that can not make the trip at this time. We hope
you can find this site to be a useful insight into this seasons
evolution. So far, it’s been warm and easy, albeit primarily dry
foggy, but there’s been great performance. With Summit-To-Base
on both Sud/South and Nord/North since Opening day, we’ve had
a rare and fantastic initial array of immaculately maintained groomed
slopes that has virtually doubled here in the last 24 hours.

Weather Notes:

You’ll have to watch out for this one if you’re a regional commuter:

Conditions Notes:

Summary: Fast and Fine.

There is some “break-in” to do on portions of newly opened terrain.
The particle sizes are generally very evenly small with good edge-set
performance characteristics, partially due to the integration of a fair
amount of natural snow into the blended, groomed finished product.
Never-the-less, all newly opened, groomed terrain does respond in
a beneficial way from traffic use and additional grooming cycles that
typically add degrees of refinement in terms of evening out particle
sizes from the unused grooming.

The initial quality of the newly opened Nansen Bas/Lower is truly
impressive. From a technical or clinical point of view, the function
level of the slopes for skiing and boarding are just as good as they
might be on February 12. We think that's is a remarkable achievement
for any day-1 experience, not to mention that it has been typical of
all new trail openings .

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
