More Snow, More Beautiful.

This is how the last 2 days have gone with a steady new
snowfall accumulation.

Point A)
The skiing on the groomed open trail list
has been very fine to excellent.

Stat’s wise, its a bit below average natural snow
for this date, so when Mother Nature decides to
lay down a bulk blanket of fresh, it is not only
greatly appreciated, but Mountain Crews
immediately go to work to compact it into
the base.

Point B)
Evidently, that’s gunna change...:
See all below:

Weather Notes:

Tremblant Skiers/Boarders commonly benefit from early winter weather
in the technically late fall time period for the November 25+/- Opening
day.

The pendulum swings both ways though, and occasionally we get
some late fall temp./precip. swings into early winter, so today represents
a short, brief, temporary, minor inconvenience for a couple of days
that within the grand scheme of things is absolutely normal.

Of course it’s disappointing it happens to be Christmas, but that’s the
way it goes sometimes. Murphy’s Weather Law???

It will still be a white Christmas at Tremblant, there’s just way too much snow
on the ground to be anything else, but... we will lose the snow in the trees
because a warm wet shower will do that. On the ground though, the frost
underneath the snow layers has more than enough cold to set up a barrier.
The net result is going to end up with a reduction in the “Loft” of the snow
on the ground, and a more densely compressed top layer. Rain will hit the
cold thermal barrier and mostly run off.

What we have to be totally and completely thankful for is that we are on the
far western fringe of this warm/wet system, so we are actually missing most of it.

It Will Be Warmer By As Much As 17C In Parts Of Sou/Est Quebec,
Than In Parts Of Florida For Christmas Day!

This is a statistical anomaly...

Conditions Notes:

First Tracks should be great, but from that point on, things are
less certain as the ground level forecast shows rainy bits moving
across the area by between 10:00 and 11:00 A.M..

Our best hope is that when the rain icons are small, that can mean
small zones of passing active precip. actually miss the Mountain
altogether, or bounce around, leaving some portions dry. The latter
“dry” reference is particularly applicable if the cloud ceiling is low
over the Mountains summit, rainy bits tend to occur below the cloud,
not so much in the cloud.

What you may need are Yellow Lens Industrial Safety Glasses which
we sound like a broken record repeating on these kinds of days.
You do not need goggles because it is already warm out so you do
not need the seal around eyes that can actually cause inside fogging.
We recommend every skier reading this record in future be prepared
for these kinds of days by going to the Hardware Store in “Yourville”,
and for typically around $10bucks on sale, get a pair of curved, yellow-lens
safety glasses and jamb them into your Ski-kit bag so you have them for days
like these when the Mountain is open, but things are warm and damp. They
prevent particle blast on eye balls, allow air circulation around and inside the
lens, the yellow tint restores over 80% of the contrast for vastly better, near
normal contour recognition, and from a functional standpoint make safe
descents easy in grey foggy or drizzly weather. period.

Technically speaking, the Skiing will be fabulous. Warming temps
softening the top layers facilitate excellent “Shred” properties in
the performance, so it is typically “Spring-Like” in traction action.
The ease of control inputs should be right across the whole
skill level array. Depending on how, where, when there are
rainy bits, you may find runoff affects things differently, but
chances are that for today’s open hours at least, the skiing
will actually be fun, fast and very enjoyable... as long as you can
stay dry and safely see forward.

Rainy bits usually freak-out prospective attendance, so these
kinds of days can have very low traffic and consequent all-day
descent smoothness and performance quality.

Got Descente Poncho? You may need it.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
