To all that celebrate...
Merry Christmas!!!
You’re Probably Not Going To Have To Worry
About “Social Distancing” Today, Because...
It’s A Wee Bit Wet Out There Today....
At least the Thunder/Lightning has stopped....
If you were awakened in the middle of the night by big flashes of
light, followed by very loud booming noises, you were not dreaming.
There actually were “Lightning” warning icons in the scrolling weather
data at 1:00 A.M. Thankfully, that was at night, if it was going on any
time during Open Hours, outdoor Lift Elevating Devices carrying human
passengers legally have to be stopped for safety. So even though rain
will cause many to stay indoors, at least those brave enough, can go out
and be rewarded with exceedingly “Spring-Like” conditions that are
always technically great, despite the challenges of staying dry.
Our standard “Goto”/“Here’s What You Need” Pic.:
Weather Notes:
It is just as totally normal to have late fall type temp./precip. swings in early winter,
as it is to have early winter conditions here in late fall that facilitate the traditional
Opening of Ski Season in late fall/November. What is not normal is the size of this
particular Continental Jet-Stream generated inversion that is causing a 3000 Kilometre
disturbance that will render northern Florida 17 C cooler than parts of Quebec.
--------- Environment Canada Weather Warning ------------
Below:
This is a statistical anomaly that we have to repeat for
the applicable span of days in case single page readers
do not see either the days preceding or following.
Conditions Notes:
Mega-Spring-like, with excellent shred/lateral grip performance.
Today will be easy to ski, but a challenge to stay dry.
The real concern for those here on Ski Holiday now, is tomorrow.
One look at the forecast temp. values tomorrow shows you the
keys to first hand witnessing of “The Laws Of Physics”. If you
can’t remember when you had your Ski/Board bases/edges tuned,
then you need to drop them off this afternoon at the Ski Shop
at the P-1, Cabriolet Base zone in the Chalet du Voyageurs.
They have a “Crazy-Good” discounted overnight Tune Up special
price. When you pick them up tomorrow morning, you will think
someone gave you new Skis.
What we think is absolutely “Nuts” is that some folks will spend
big bucks for a family Ski Holiday, but will not spend around 40bucks
to tune up their gear, then whine about icy bits in the lift Q’s.
Proportional to levels of performance, safety and enjoyment,
no other utility than a Ski/Board TuneUp delivers as much value. Period.
If you are a future reader here doing a Christmas/New Year research
project, then what you need to do is use this immediate point above
about gear tuneup as a prompt to initiate your own plan when you
make the trek here. All the effort you’re making to be here will be
almost be exponentially magnified in performance, enjoyment and
safety if you drop your Skis/Board off at the Ski Shop the first evening
you arrive. This is a “Too Easy” utility that has direct benefit many, many
times greater than it’s small cost.
As second point that should be borne in mind for future Holiday period
researchers is that conditions consequent from this anomalous weather
system we have today are absolutely unusual, not normal, and definitely
not typical. This is when the value of the archive comes into perspective
by examining this(or any other date for that matter), in a historical review.
