Proof Of Snow:
This Is A Key Insight Regarding Current Snow Quality At Tremblant.
2.22.21.Lowell.Thomas.Sector.Trail.Side.Proof.Of.Snow.d.jpg
Above:
As an outright testament to the quality of the Sous Bois, Glade, Hors Piste
snow quality, we don’t think you could get a clearer picture than this.
While the depth of the recent accumulations is quite evident, what it
does not tell you is the density of this snowpack. It took 47 minutes
get this picture because to physically move through undisturbed snow
that is on average between 1.5 to 2.5 metres deep, without skis on, is
very difficult and time consuming. To begin with, to get this shot without
messing up the clean snow in front of the skis, means putting them in
place from right side of this frame, then circling back around 25 metres
or so to the other side of this small clearing in the Open Sous Bois, in
order to get the facing POV. From experience, we can say that you end
up crawling across it in order to spread out body weight over the largest
square area in order to avoid sinking into it. Any form of “Walking”
motion in this deep snow is impossible. If you were in Revelstoke BC,
this might be super-fluffy, wispy-light powder, but here at Tremblant
right now, it is super-dense, construction-grade snowpack, suitable
(if you are a Kid at heart) for great Snow Fort building. We loved every
minute of this exercise, and we can tell you for a fact it is an intense
level of aerobic physical output you will NEVER get from any wall mounted
Zoom Virtual climbing/cable device... ever.
The key insight is really what this means for the adjacent Tremblant Groomed
Alpine Trail Network, where this most excellent construction-grade snowfall has
been meticulously integrated into the base that Guests enjoy.
This shot above is within 8 metres of an open, meticulously groomed,
Versant Nord/North Side, Haut/Upper, Lowell Thomas Sector listed trail.
This shot below is at virtually the same Versant Nord/North Side vertical
elevation as the “Proof Of Snow” above, although it is roughly 40 degrees
of Nor-East rotation away, but it still gets a similar prevailing wind-shaped
lee-side snowfall benefit. In this case, all the accumulations get groomed
on a daily basis, so that great raw depth of snow you saw above, is also now
an integrated part of the finished trail strata that you can see here below.
2.22.21.Nord.North.Ptit.Bonheur.Near.Flawless.Carving.Learning.Superb.Surfaces.c.jpg
By extension, at this point in the season we can also tell you that this
“groomed-in” integration concept of the raw snowpack applies universally
across the entire range shown in the Official PDF Archive Copy below.
The conclusion is: If the foundational elements are excellent, the finished surfaces
are excellent, and we can state that categorically for virtually every square metre we
covered yesterday. Virtually all of Tremblant’s extensive Groomed inventory is excellent. Period.
The highly skilled members of the Tremblant Mountain Op’s group have clearly
demonstrated an unfailing commitment to maintaining the very best standards of
groomed trail development and quality possible and they are to be congratulated
for that professionalism under Pandemic logistical challenges.
Notwithstanding the 2020/2021 highly restricted Covid-19 Pandemic circumstances,
if in any “Normal” future time where International Destination Travel is once again
possible, this is why you book a Ski Holiday at Tremblant for February with total
confidence, while you’re dreaming of near flawless miles and miles of groomed
perfection in September. Please forgive our enthusiasm, but all things considered,
it is an extraordinarily great privilege to have this level of universal quality at any
time, let alone in the midst of a Global Pandemic scenario that has temporarily closed
the door on most of what we would consider normal human communal or travel utility.
Weather Notes:
The important point to remember with the hourly part of today’s
forecast is that it is for the Sud/South Resort Base Level and there
is typically a -4C cooler drop in temps over Mountain Elevations
up to the Summit, so we expect the trails to remain sub-zero by
at least a degree or three all day. This should be even more reliable
with the snowy overcast acting as umbrella to hold off solar heat.

Conditions Notes:
For the Groomed:
As well as all the “Proof Of Snow” material above, what we want to
emphasize is the use of the word “Universal” in the description of
the Groomed inventory. From Beginner to Expert rated challenge
in Groomed surfaces, there is a quite seamless connection from
zone to zone, so it’s actually a good time for developing skills by
moving up on the challenge scale with minimal risk and maximal
forgiveness. Exploring new terrain with skills you’ve safely mastered
on gentle slopes is one of the most satisfying experiences Beginners
and Intermediates can have and these are exactly the conditions you
want for those progressive steps up. Handling new degrees of steepness
or speed control automatically become easier if the inherent smoothness
and effective traction levels are so consistent to begin with. It’s just a
matter of “Gradual”, and that is the major asset of “Universal” when it
comes to understanding the potential for personal development.
For the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste and Un-Groomed:
See Top-of Page Proof Of Snow. With skis on, it’s fantastic!

Bring Back The Memories...
Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(
If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
