T360 Prime-Time Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct At 8:39 P.M.

Basically, a great day...

A busy weekend Sunday for sure, but still a great day.

The “Sunny” part did not last very long, but there certainly was a lightness
in the sky, even though it was substantially obscured by the vast snowmaking
microclimate swirling around the Mountain's sides. The Kidz never noticed and
continued on enjoying the Park...

The reason we say “Basically, A Great Day”, is because while there were very fine
surfaces all day, no doubt, the early morning excellence of fresh grooming was
showing considerable wear by last run, consequently there were some exposed
icy bits and slick zones. It’s a busy Sunday, and it's December 5, not January 5, or
February 5, so the base is just a fraction of mid-winter depths. With the volume of
traffic it is not surprising that a fully attended weekend day of unbridled enthusiasm
would stretch the limits of things a bit over 7 hours of descent cycling on just 19 trails.

Technically, Race Kids Rule!!!

Look to Race Kidz of all ages for technical excellence, where skills
developments are very much transferable to YOUR technique.

There are many, many transferable technique elements from racing
that you can use all day, every day, as a recreational Skier. Stance and
balance essential in a race course, are just as valuable anywhere out
on the slopes. The low, compact form, the hands forward for balance
compensation, these are things you can not only see above, you can
do them on your next run.

Massive Snowmaking Efforts Ongoing.

Here is one example. The entire Versant Nord/North Side Duncan
descent path is under a huge simultaneous top-to-bottom construction
effort. There are more zones just like this one and what we think is that
by next weekend the number of open trails could see +/-, roughly double
the current number. All this in advance of the 24 Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser.

We made “Last Run” on the Duncan Quad at 3:29 and we had been lapping Nord/North
for about 45 minutes by that point, enjoying very fine high performance carving on
soft, grippy, fast surfaces from Summit-To-Base by just being observant regarding
the wear patterns and skirting around them to keep traction optimized. On that basis
we can truthfully say there were great, high quality descent lines all day long. Period.

In one other regard it was a fairly typical Sunday in that the morning crowd that
peaked at about 11:45, really began to dwindle at 12:30 and the usual exodus
to “Theirville” began in earnest, leaving us lucky remainders to lap the Mountain
with either one or two minute waits, or no line at all. It continues to amaze us
that folks would rather line up on a highway, than stay Skiing/Boarding, and leave
after the rush, which is not really a “Rush”, because bumper to bumper is usually
slower, and literally goes nowhere fast. Nevertheless, we’re happy to have many
Sunday afternoons mostly all to ourselves.

One More Day Of This:

Then, apparently things are going to change for a few hours...

In the meantime, you’ve got all day to cruise the easy,
super-smooth and joyful simplicity of Nansen Haut/Upper
that is in very, very fine condition.

Continuing on with our Nansen review,

There’s More On The Way!

It won’t be long now, Nansen Bas/Lower is under full development
and we can’t wait for all 6 Kilometres of Nansen’s complete course
being fully available over it’s magnificent, beautiful pathway to the
Resort base.

Weather Notes:

Wow, Nice! This one’s another gem. If you look back a year ago
the contrast in the two seasons is very dramatic. Not sure we
can recall a similar number of brilliantly sunny days in the
opening sequences of seasons past. Enjoy today while it’s
here, because tomorrow is going to be quite a bit “different”.

Environment Canada Winter Storm Warning:

There’s definitely a storm brewing for Monday.
It could be a big, messy system, but at least it’s brief.

Conditions Notes:

For today, superb. A nice frosty overnight super-chill over
the Mountain, combined with the grooming integration
of the newly fallen snow should produce some outstanding
early December Ski/Board conditions today.

The traction and control capabilities were already great
yesterday, so we can only see “up” for all the quality today.

There was a hugely positive overnight difference in surfaces
into the realm of genuine winter performance after the heavy
thick snowfall, and rapid temp drops of last Thursday, and that
has done nothing but get better since. Today is day-3 of the
following refinements that only escalate to higher levels in
very stable sub-zero consecutive day weather profiles.

It is the weekend, so it could be busy. We are not sure on that
one though, the Covid-19 pandemic, the high cost of fuel, and
the overall rise in travel expenses are some of the reasons we’ve
been told that friends may be making fewer adventure trips.
We hope that the considerations folks make include the very high
personal benefits that vigorous outdoor athletics/exercise make
to the healthy human body. Skiing is good for you.

Please Note:

On the Versant Nord/North open list, Trail # 70, Gagnon,
is shown as open, however the Expo Quad is not open.
What that would technically mean is that # 67, the Lowell
Thomas trail is open all the way down from the Rigodon
upper junction and the Gagnon reference is only for its
very lowest portion as a runout to the Lowell T Quad
from the terminal end of the Lowell T trail.
