OOOOP’s....
X 2.
“OOOOP’s" #1:
Yesterday we wrote that we had sustained a left ankle injury...
It was an accidental “Hooked Tip Back Flip” in Freestyle lingo...
Well, it turned out to be a wee bit more than minor, so your
intrepid author here has had to leave the Mountain to obtain
medical attention. Hence the significant delay in reporting
this morning. Ooooop’s...
OOOOP’s # 2:
Mother Nature decided to dump a really ugly weather glitch
over Eastern North America, Tremblant included. Hence,
almost the nastiest weather you might imagine, and the
reduction in Open Trail this morning from yesterday’s 24,
to 13 today. Ooooop’s...
Bottom line...
“OOOOOP’s" Happens.
More to follow as time permits, and...
it may be a little while.
Weather Notes:
There are few positive things you can say about
weather like this specifically, however generally,
“warm bits” in late fall can go on for days, or even
weeks. Comparatively, this one, like the previous
ones, only being hours, means that the effects and
the consequences are respectively brief and minor.

Conditions Notes:
Atmospherically: Clinical definition of “Yuk”, maybe even “Yucky”.
Surfaces: “Spring-Like”. Not uncommon in late fall at all,
however the freezing rain part is an undefinable wild card
at this stage because we do not know exactly how it will
impact descent quality. That is totally dependant on volume
over time. Small volume over short time equals inconsequential.
More volume over longer time makes for a big mess. Results
may vary.
Ultimately, Freezing Rain can mean nothing as far as trails, because
it is frozen, and it is not erosive like liquid rain that creates both thaw
and saturation. Freezing rain is solid and while it may coat things or
add chunky sensations to the experience of skiing or boarding, it
otherwise just gets broken up and integrated into the surfaces as fine
particulate with the next grooming cycles.
Ultimately, Freezing Rain can mean a great deal to immediate lift
operations because it coats everything and water weighs 10 pounds
per gallon, so imagine the load increase on cables, chairs, gondola
cabins, etc., with a thick coating of very heavy solid water.
Many, many, many,
big, big, big,
wild cards in todays scenario...
As you may be able to understand, patience on the part of all
attending will be necessary in the face of Mother Natures
dominant hand.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
