The Performance... Very Cool And Beautiful!

The major benefit of a good overnight shot of cool is
going to be the potential for Mother Nature to have
cooked out all the internal humidity in the recent
fresh snowfall that was a wee bit prone to heaviness
as a result of the atmospheric warmth it was delivered
in. If that’s actually the case, we think you’ll find really
spectacular performance throughout all skill levels
of groomed and especially in the Expert Sous Bois,
Hors Piste and Un-Groomed.

Weather Notes:
With the gradual rise of the sun in the sky throughout
February, there is usually a noticeable upward increase
in the moving 14 day average temperature ranges, so it
is possible that this little cool blip in the graph of actual
sunrise temps could maybe be the last time we see any
-30’s in the record for the rest of the season???, maybe?,
hopefully?
Supplementary February 2022 Weather Data:
There has been a lot of excellence within the high performance
ranges of groomed terrain for weeks on end. With the overall
temp range trends for this season being on the cooler, some
might say way cooler, side of the 30 year averages, the big
offsetting bonus has been the complete reliability of superb
base characteristics that have had virtually no significant
thermal intrusions for about 6 weeks. In the range of archival
comparisons over years or maybe even decades, this may
be a winter of foundational base quality in the top handful.
What that’s going to mean, in addition to the daily quality
benefits we’ve been enjoying, is the increasing certainty of
some of the most durable, high quality Spring Skiing possible.
Long range Tremblant planners take note.

Conditions Notes:
Due to the Mother Nature cryogenic cold-shock treatment...
Wherever the grooming is overnight fresh,
conditions should be absolutely fabulous.
For first tracks, there could be a wee bit of cold-snow friction,
but it will just make the steeper pitches super-easy and super-fun.
Of course, the initial challenge will be to have complete
integrity in the seals of your garment overlaps and closures
in order to prevent cold migration into inner layers. The proof
of that will become instantly apparent if you do not get those
seals done right as you will feel even tiny gaps as direct cold
shots within seconds at any descent speeds.
As soon as the sun gets to working on both air and surfaces,
say around 10:00 A.M., there is typically a “Light Switch Flips On”
effect with running surface glide and speed. Within a run or 2,
it can be a fairly noticeable enhancement in “Flow” as quite
quickly, the more normal characteristics of gravity begin to
prevail. In that sense, by around 11:00 A.M., the whole groomed
trail network may just seem to come alive.
As far as the Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed, this is
a repeat and extension of yesterdays’ concept of how Expert
Skill favour really comes into play with major, major benefit.
There have been 35cm’s/2 feet of new snowfall in a week, most
of it within the last 72 hours, so that will be very noticeable to the
weekend regional Expert regulars.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
