As a separate and distinct component away from any atmospheric
elements, here is the surface performance overview in one pic.

Basically what you are looking at is a shallow top layer of
loose skiable snow over a very firm base that can have some
icy bit tendencies. However, it is also just warm enough to soften
the base a tiny bit, so combined with the surprisingly grippy
top layers, it has been possible to keep a reliable edge-set.

Performance is optimized if you have well tuned sharp edges.

In this one.pic conditions case study above, you can see the
loose snow being displaced by the skis, at the same time you
can see the groomer track marks embedded in the firm base
immediately to the right of the skier. This is a highly variable
dynamic over the whole Mountain footprint on a “More-or-Less”
basis, but the essential positive element is “good grip".

Below:

Shifting the camera POV to a ground up mode, you can get
a sense for what we would consider to be a close to average
surface quality performance sample which has been clinically
very good to excellent within rated skill level references. Due to
the ambient atmospheric warmth we would expect this to be similar
for today. Please note that this is a totally random sample skier not
known to us in any way and the pic is not staged, planed, or set up.
What we also want to draw your attention to is the self-confident
smile on the face of the person which we would interpret as a
reflection of the very satisfying, very much fun and rewarding
overall skiing experience.

Notwithstanding any "atmospheric anomalies”, we think that if you
are on appropriately matched terrain to your actual skill level, with
recently tuned gear in good shape, you will have an excellent day. Period.

Weather Notes:

Please Note: Despite Rain icons, what we see so-far is only
a light coating of snow at Resort Base levels in the adjacent
Old Mt. T Village. The Summit Web Cam POV showing the info.
Board is obscured by icy?/rainy?/sleet?(not sure which?) debris,
so we can’t observe actual elevation data. We have an analogue
temp. reading of +2 C, so the precipitation could change any
second. Currently, the Mountain View is totally obscured by
cloud-fog and the old village is still dry.

Conditions Notes:

There are 36 “Progressive” trail opening icons, so it is
highly probable that there will be adjustments to the
available trails and Sous Bois bush zones.

--------- Conditions Caveat --------------

On the Mountain, the very best thing to do is immediately consult with
the Info. Ski Crews as soon as you reach the Summit as they will absolutely
have the up-to-the-minute, most accurate available open trail data.

----------------------------------------

It will be critical to match actual, legitimate skill levels with
rated terrain challenges for all initial explorations. There
could be multiple environmental factors that generate
additional difficulty.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste categories, here is another
Lowell Thomas Sector Proof Of Snow:

In this snowpack sample from the descending left trail-side of
Banzai Bas, Lower, we have vertically plunged one 122cm ski pole
directly into the snowpack down to the point that only the top
of the grip handle is visible for the sake of the illustration. There is
more snow below this but it gets difficult to push in further due
to compressed substrates. The point is that for any March 24,
the relative quantity of the current snowpack reserves is a very
healthy indicator of near-term future conditions durability. This
specific locational example is a south-eastern rotational extension
of the contour ridge between the Summit and the Expo Sector peak,
about 50 lateral linear metres from our last Le Tunnel Proof Of Snow.
It reliably gets huge backfill drift-in accumulations for the entire
span of the season and we use it for Proof Of Snow pic’s because
none of the adjacent trails are supported by snowmaking so this
is a true indicator of au natural.

Please Note: Due to the light rain icons that can often
mean active weather passing around the Mountain and
potentially leaving it mostly, if not totally dry, there is a
distinct possibility this could be a “Fly Under The Radar"
day of soft, spring, high performance excellence. We could
be wrong, but the possibility for predominantly dry, fast fun
in easy warm temps’ definitely exists. Even if there is not much
rain, cloud-fog is billions of quadrillions of micro-droplets of
atmospherically suspended water particles that can effect vision
so yellow lens safety glasses are likely going to be a huge asset,
as is our standard recommendation for the use of a Descente
brand poncho in any dimension of “rainy".

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
