If we said this pic. was from January 29, you would believe it...

If we said this pic. was from February 29, you would believe that too...

But, if we told you this pic. was from March 29, you might not be quite
so ready to believe us, however...

When the grass is green back in Yourville...

This is real, this is actual, this is Tremblant today....

Totally Winter, And Totally Excellent!

There was a mild breeze, it was cool, but the sun had more energy
than you might have thought, so you could feel solar heat if you
stood quietly for a few moments...

Absolutely Fantastic Winter Reboot!

Looks like a slightly warmer repeat for tomorrow!

Spring Arrested.

Mother Nature decided to put “Spring” under trail-side arrest
so that you can have one last opportunity to get out for some
genuine, authentic Winter.

In the overnight observations you see above, there was
a very strong northerly headwind for the grooming crews
as they circulated around the Summit. Even without the
machine, you could see the snow whipping from left to
right in the Web Cam scanning rotation. Typically, with
that amount of visible snow movement, there would be
potentially some very fine drift-in across the Lowell
Thomas sector, especially on the descending left trail-sides
that are in the lee of the tree-lines.

We featured a look at Versant Nord/North Side Trail # 97 “LTE”
under the Lowell Thomas Quad yesterday and because of the
overnight weather we think this will be a shining example
for Expert mogul fans today. For this late stage of the season
the coverage here, and throughout this zone, is outstanding.

Look at the snow in the bush. For the end of March, it’s just
not that typical to see such wide expanses of pure winter white.
Normally there would be some evidence of thaw over contours
that get more sun or warm wind exposures, but definitely not
this season. This scene could easily be dated for January or
February from this, or any previous season and no one would
doubt it for a second.

Weather Notes:

A way more user-friendly day today with much warmer
temps and a lot less wind forecast. Still an “All Winter” day
though, which for March 29 is an extraordinary happening,
especially within the current sequence of 3 consecutive
winter days, a full week into the Official start of Spring.

As far as the 14 long range is concerned, the best feature for
retained trail base quality is the prospect of having every
single night drop into the sub-zero C range over Mountain
elevations. Fantastic news for Spring skiing fans that are
looking forward to having as much as possible open.

Supplementary Weather Factors:

We are adding this again because of it’s fundamental
applicability to today within a range of days that are
of pivotal importance to the quality and durability of
the remaining season. (Please Note: There is more
snowfall than the enclosed annotation, the official
total now being 526cm’s.)

Please Note: In the above lower left graphic we have highlighted
Tremblant’s location just within the border of the purple-fringed
over-average snowfall accumulation zone. We want to point out
that the depiction of snowfall overages is for ground level regional
zones, and in our opinion does not come close to showing the
actual overages that we are concerned with at Mountain Elevations.

We estimate that up on/over the Alpine Snow Sports Trail Network
at Tremblant, there is as much as 100cm’s above what would be
average for this date. It is our theory that the primary elements
responsible for this Tremblant exclusive excess are the reliable
reoccurrence of Orographic snowfall precipitation events here
only over Mountain elevations, that accumulate over time, within
sustained sub-zero c temp ranges, measured over months.

Conditions Notes:

Genuine, Authentic, 100% Real, “Winter” Conditions
Across The Entire Range Of Open Terrain.

Generally, we expect conditions to be winter excellent
over the vast expanses of the groomed list, and we think
that because the mid-week traffic is usually very light,
there should be fantastic all-day durability, however...

There may be some icy bits below topographical crests,
on the steepest pitches, or where traffic is concentrated
at intersections or converging trail run-outs.

Your perception of firm or icy may be directly proportional
to the state of your skis or snowboard edge tuning quality.

The open Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Un-Groomed will be a far
more individualistic, case-by-case situation. Drifting and
contour wind-shaping are very unique to the dips and
curves that could occur in different combinations for
each and every descent, especially when there has been
a hard winter reset the way we’ve seen it for the last 3
days. For these reasons we are recommending that all
initial explorations be undertaken with speed caution
by only legitimate Experts. With the very firm substrates
“Forgiveness” is on the low end of the scale, so you want
to maintain the highest levels of Expert sensitivity to patterns
that could predict the safest pathways.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
