”Wow" Spring Performance!
The chill in the hill kept even most of the steeper trails
level to a degree that you would not usually associate
with the warm air temps.

We would have to say the main features today were
speed and all day smoothness durability. These are
noteworthy because at +9 C, you don’t automatically
get either or both of those. To have them both combined
to produce the performance we enjoyed today with the
warm easy of spring, elevated the whole experience
considerably beyond expectations.
4.5.22.Nord.North.Ptit.Bonheur.Smooth.Sweet.Learning.Zone.c.jpg
The speed was the most surprising to us. We were very confident
it was going to be very mogul resistant in the groomed with all
the supporting frost that is literally only 6-10 cm’s under the
soft top layers, but real spring warmth normally generates way
more drag than we had today, so the zippy descents coming
one after another were not only fun but literally refreshing too,
as with some genuine “Airspeed” for cooling yourself off, it seemed
as though there were still hints of winter in the air.

More in the morning but if your plan is for Tremblant,
congratulations, you’ve made a wise choice, it looks
like another sunny one’s on the way.

Spectacular Spring!

Up Or Down, Either Way... Tremblant Is Simply Gorgeous!

The full winter wall-to-wall, summit-to-base coverage
is a privilege that we appreciate for the outstanding
scope of ski conditions that have been so durable.
Every spring has great conditions, the differences are
in how much, and we have certainly been blessed with
how it has all come to pass with this seasons unique
combination of cool temps and abundant snowfall.
Absolute reliability in the very high quality of the overall
descent experience has been a daily Tremblant feature for
months, and there is every logical expectation based on the
current trends that the excellence is going to continue on,
shifted into spring mode. Additionally, with daily overnight
dips into the minus zero C’s at Mountain elevations there
will be resets of the base frequently.
Weather Notes:
We are encouraging all Tremblant ski/board fans
to make A.S.A.P. plans for the last days of this
season as the weather is about to experience a
significant thermal intrusion over the course of
the next week. There is way too much snow,
supported by a very stable frost level in the base,
to anticipate a lot of loss of coverage, however...
When it gets so hot that saturation levels inhibit
sliding, the functional utility is naturally reduced.
Bottom line... go as soon as you can if you want
to take full advantage of these exceptionally stable
base coverages being so favourably influenced by
the deep frost below.
Conditions Notes:
It’s Time To Jump Into Action...
4.4.22.Sissy.Schuss.Haut.Upper.Park.Air.Action.d.jpg
In the groomed, there has been a remarkable support
from the frost generated stability of all those weeks
and weeks of deep winter overnights at -20’s/-30’s C.
Even though there is a considerable degree of end-of-day
softness, the depth of that softness is limited to just a
handful of cm’s, so there is excellent, mogul resistant
durability across all the main boulevards, extending well
into the range of the narrower and recently groomed
smaller trails.
Here below is an illustration of the performance capability of
the comparatively shallow top layer. What you see below
is a total commitment to the skiers outward turning force
being completely retained by the soft, bankable top layer
as both of the skis are being deflected into the shape of
an arch. Its almost like you’d imagine driving a Ferrari
on a race track, and with every turn having this consistent
grip you can feel the alternating lateral g-forces that are
only apparent when this traction level prevails.
4.4.22.Nord.North.Lowell.Thomas.Quad.Views.Rope.Tow.Soft.Top.Layer.Performance.Quality.d.jpg
Another benefit of the frost support has been the retained
natural speed. For sure, by the end of the day, where things
are really warming up, there can be some sticky bits, but
on average it’s been all of “Zip, Zap, Zoom” and with the
hugely positive traction levels in the soft top layer, the carving
performance has been truly exhilarating.
The so-far shallow soft top layers have also been very forgiving
as well, little errors are easily absorbed without harshness or
edge-catch and it’s been really easy to make corrections on the
fly without feeling as though you’re taking risks.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed, there are
more individually distinct, a la Carte scenario’s however
the last big super-cold -20C overnight back last week
still holds the quality of the base solid, over which the
softness of the last weeks snowfall sits on top. It has all
been very easy to navigate once the morning firmness
in those top layers begins to soften up.
