T360 Late Night Apres Ski Edit, Under Progressive Assembly @ 11:37 P.M.
Virtually all the performance, and all the refinement we anticipated
for today, happened exactly the way we expected and it was a great
day of smooth, easy conditions for all skill levels.

It was a great day for practicing and/or building new skills...

Based on the level of finishing that was so obvious in some
grooming operations, we think that maybe, possibly, could
be, perhaps, there could be some new opening terrain for
either Saturday or Sunday???
We could be wrong, but Mountain Crews were making surfaces to
a very high standard in this mid Lowell Thomas sample shot below.
If we are right, we think there could be an increase in the open trails
to somewhere in the low-to-mid 20’s.

From The Miscellaneous File:
We have no idea who this group is, or why they’re
all wearing Lumber-Jack capes, but they sure seemed
to be having fun! They may never know this pic.
exists, but if you happen to know who they are,
let ‘em know.

At the end of the day, it was still really easy early winter
weather, there was a bit of a breezy feeling every once in
a while, but nothing like the recent howler, so even with
a few degrees cooler, it felt warmer just because there
was practically no wind-chill.
12.2.22.Last.Run.Summit.Weather.Conditions.Observations.a.jpg
For tomorrow, it could be a messy one. Rainy, sleety, mixed
whatever could descend from the sky for about 15 potential
hours. It could be mostly snow over the Mountain if, if, if,
we’re lucky. If we’re lucky or not lucky, you should bring
Descente Poncho because you’ll probably need it to stay
dry, regardless. Thankfully, this warm glitch is another
short one, so back to a more normal forecast for Sunday.

Escalating Levels Of Refinement.
It is day-2 of a post-thermal event, with round the clock
Sub-Zero C’s, so the second night-shift of grooming will
have produced noticeable increases in the dimensions of
the scope of refinements and noticeable reductions in the
granularity of the loose top layers within those dimensions.

Escalating Trail Expansion And Terrain Development Updates:
Please Note: The following are only 2 examples of many. For
additional insight, review the snowmaking icons in the Official
Trail Status Data recorded below.
Work has been ongoing at a feverish pace whenever the temps have
allowed. Below is a zoom-in shot excerpt from above focusing in
on the widening of Versant Sud/South side trail # 29, Johannsen,
down to the Resort base. In the handful of warm days this zone
has been the most challenging to fill in, but whenever the temp’s
are low enough, there’s been this very obvious deployment of
snowmaking, so it won’t be long now until we see a substantial
increase in the useable traversing width here.

The second example is the immense effort that’s been visible
over the entire rise of the Lowell Thomas Quad. At one point
on a single ride up we counted 29 visible, sequentially rising
snowguns deployed on Lowell Thomas Bas/Lower, up and
over Rope Tow to the Summit. This work zone has been active
for just about a week and the accelerating coverage is impressive.

Weather Notes:
A very nice day with easy temps during open hours, although
if there is any fraction of the breezy we had yesterday, you
may notice a little edge to the cool where you are facing into
the wind, especially if the gust speeds indicated for this afternoon
materialize.
The benefit of a nice little boost to the chill in the hill today
should be the resiliency of the ski trail base for what appears
to be another normal late Fall weather burp forecast for
tomorrow. Of course, what we’re hoping for is that the
forecast for tomorrow could see even a degree or two of
lower that could improve the odd’s of snowfall over higher,
cooler Mountain elevations.
A look at the 14 day long range shows that after tomorrow
we may see a more settled outlook, but still mild as winter
goes. For Tremblant regulars, very easy conditions to work
with, not to mention the natural snowfall potential shown
within the latter portions of this time period.

“Warmer, way less wind and very good ski conditions!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Conditions Notes:
Our ski conditions forecast for today is for very fine, and very
fast as the main characteristics due to the increase in refinement
that should be a product of last night’s grooming shift.
Yesterday was a bit of a surprise in the overall quality where
there was a higher degree of soft, durable, very low friction
trail surfaces than we thought might be possible with both
the rapid drop in the temp’s as well as the very blustery wind.
For sure, up at the Summit level crests, there were some
wind exposed zones like the intersection of La Crete and
Beauvallon Haut/Upper, where the “breezes” were enough
to push you uphill at times, but once you descended even
a few metres down the front side of Beauvallon, the snow
became remarkably soft and easy to control on, and it stayed
like that pretty much all day.
So, from a starting point that was good to begin with, adding
any levels of refinement should make today a really good day
for some high performance front-side carving.
This will also make for some superb learning surfaces. Nansen
and P’tit Bonheur should be super-easy for Beginners. Low
friction, excellent glide, and easy control initiation are all
highly desirable surface qualities for anyone practicing basic
techniques.
Experts will be happy to have Versant Sud/South Side Summit
level tail # 23, Taschereau, back on line after a time-out for
some additional snowmaking and grooming refinishing.
One big difference in the weather we see as beneficial today
is the change in wind direction from yesterday’s West, to
toady’s South. That alone should take a lot of stress off
the Summit level crests that just will not have anywhere
close to the frontal force they saw yesterday, thereby
greatly reducing chances of icy or exposed firm base zones.
