T360 Middle Of The Night Shift, Quickie Apres Ski Edit @ 2:16 A.M.
The full course preparations for the 24 Hour Children’s Charity
Fundraiser are the reason of the Open Trail reductions today,
however what is equally evident is that there is going to be a
lot of new terrain imminently, for the weekend, and as well,
for the following days and weeks leading up to the Christmas
New Year Holiday period.

What we had to work with was just about exactly as
we expected, a wee bit “crispy” maybe even “crunchy”
as the groomed default everywhere was very smooth
with a somewhat course particle size as illustrated
below. It skied with a very natural feel underfoot and
where there was accumulated traffic wear, all those
passing ski and board edges were breaking down
the granularity noticeably.

With a solidly sub-zero C Summit overnight in the -7 C
range, tonights grooming shift should render out a
noticeably smaller particle refinement that is a common
progression on the second refroze overnight. We will
have to most likely see a repeat of the Open Terrain
for Friday as the Charity Event preparations continue
to understandably have the bulk of the resources
allocated for readiness.
With more sun, and similar day-time high temp’s
plus refined surfaces, tomorrows main feature
should be an increase in the scope of fine, as in
small, more natural, loose snow-like surfaces.

Weather Notes:
Tremblant specific, today...
Beautifully Easy!
Typical Late Fall/Early Winter Complex Weather Patterns.
We certainly have seen quite a bit of Mother Natures
indecisive activity on the temp. scale. Please, make up
your mind Mother Nature... it’s time to go all-in on Winter!
Overall/Regional Early December Weather/Forecast Factors:
Of all the graphics above, perhaps the lower left corner
holds the most insight into the potential complexities.
The big purple blob is the result of the Southerly wave
intrusion of the Polar Vortex which is a cyclonic column
up to 50 kilometres high. The storm track is basically
the force of the Jet Stream at a height of between 5 to 8
kilometres up, and then finally we have the pressure systems
directly over the ground.
The graphic on the upper right shows both the polar and
sub-tropical jet stream indicated arrow air flows and we
think it’s interesting to see that practically speaking, they
converge pretty much over our region.
The effects on the ground with this huge swirling cocktail are
not completely predictable depending on the wavy product
of whatever forces are most dominant over any given location
at any given time. Even the typical West-To-East movement
of systems has been altered in normal rates of progression
due to the blocking influence currently over Greenland.
This could take a while to flush out and in the mean-time,
as you can see, Tremblant is right on the lines of several
of the most identifiable elements.
Conditions Notes:
Besides the trail access restriction to the Sud/South Resort base,
everything open should be very good, with maybe a hint of “crispy”
in the mix due to the up-to-down crossover on the temp scale
at Zero C.
The default will be set to groomed smooth however, so whatever
mix there is over the Mountains vertical rise should be relatively
easy to navigate as long as you have tuned gear.
