Just In Time!
Whoooo Hooooo !!!
Nansen Bas/Lower Listed As Progressive OPEN!!!
This is a hugely critical, hugely important infrastructure
development feature that is literally just in time for facilitating
a legitimate Green/Beginner and alternate descent pathway to
the Versant Sud/South Side Resort base for the running of the
24 Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser.
Please review our "Conditions Notes" below for additional detail.
Weather Notes:
Just In Time # 2... What would the 24 Hour event weekend be
without a little hint of “winter”, and with the coolest overnight
so far this season at -15 C, that wintery quality is fully in place.
Evidently we may have a little dip in the Polar Vortex
going on here for about 48 hours or so...
Conditions Notes:
In a purely mechanical sense, Nansen Bas/Lower offers
an alternate pathway to the Sud/South Resort Base that
opens just in time to accommodate logistical support
for all Tremblant guests to ski out to base, while the
24 Hour event is using the trails # 8, 32, and 27,
i.e., Beauvallon Haut/Upper, Beauvallon Bas/Lower,
and Roy Scott, that are all closed to the public
as the event course.
What a relief.
Nansen Bas/Lower has been under construction for
over a week that would normally have potentially had
it open a few days ago. However... we think the 2 distinct
warm spells(#) that have also occurred in the past week
may have been responsible for the delays because the
final runout to the Resort base above the Fairmont was
subjected to the most heat, as well as some rain.
The consequent challenge has been to have enough
“cold” in order to make snow to fill in those final blanks.
Essentially, that’s been the last 48 hours.
((#) A week ago today, the Sud/South Resort base
briefly hit +9 C, this past Wed., it touched +8 C.)
Congratulations to Mountain Op’s for the completion
of this immense task. To open a 6 Kilometre trail, from
top-to-bottom with the oscillating weather heat/rain
we’ve had in this late Fall time period is a remarkable
achievement that we have tremendous respect for.
This becomes even more impressive when you put it
all into the perspective of the simultaneous preparations
for the running of the 24 Hour event. We think it is
quite possibly the largest labour hour concentration
of construction, over the shortest time period, for the
entire season.
Please Note: The simultaneous opening of the “Flying Mile”
High Speed Detachable Quad at the Sud/South Resort Base
will also provide significant relief to public access. It is not
designated as a “progressive” opening, however trail # 5,
“La Passe”, the descent to Nansen Bas/Lower is designated
as “progressive” opening, so we think that one will clear fairly
quickly to maximize ASAP utility.
-------- 24 Hour Event Traffic Notice: ---------------
It is possible there may be logistical challenges due
to the event running simultaneously to regular open
hours for the public access ski day. This is obviously
more complex on Versant Sud/South Side, however
the newly opening Nansen Bas/Lower will be a major
asset as the primary ski-out to base for the public.
Typically, Versant Nord, the North Side has extra capacity
in place to accommodate larger uphill transport and in
this specific case, that is the availability of the Expo Quad
at the Nord/North base.
Please be patient during the overlapping public open hours
with the event between noon on Saturday, until noon on Sunday.
Please consult with specific Event and Info.Ski personnel for
directions and event information and conduct detail.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
