Yesterday’s Snowy And Snow-foggy, Is Going To

We are specifically including this T360 Fan submitted pic
from yesterday as an addendum to the weather conditions
observations in yesterdays post where the Summit Info.
Board temp was unreadable due to snow-fog. At -4C, this
completes the accuracy of the overall archival records as we
normally try to record Summit and Base temps to illustrate
elevation differentials. We are grateful for its inclusion as it
also clearly shows snow in the air and the obvious contribution
it adds to trail quality that has seen quite close to 1.5 Metres of
natural snowfall in a week, an incredibly valuable asset that
will favourably influence the rest of the entire season.

Weather Notes:

Today, another close to perfect early winter day
with easy temps that at cooler Mountain elevations
may just break over the Zero C mark for a couple
of hours.

For the long range, we’re glad to see that the intense
rainy icons in the previous models have gone from the
daytime hours of the current set. Yes, there are still
possible rainy bits, but with the small icons for open
hours now, and at the base level temps, there’s increasing
chances that the active bits should be quickly passing,
localized ground level precip., which could either by-pass
or leave the Mountain dry altogether, or be snow at elevations.
As for the really potential rainy bits, they are at night, so with
cooler overnight temps at elevations there is at least some
chance, it could maybe be snow. We could be wrong, but at
least it is at night.

This is another instance where Tremblant’s northerly latitude
could be a major benefit in this passing warm system as
hopefully, we could be just far enough above the really
active part to the south to avoid the soaking that is likely
at the system moves from west to east over the St. Lawrence
River Valley.

Conditions Notes:

Continuing tendencies towards softness that
can result in traffic induced bumps or moguls,
however that should be a direct relationship to
steepness, so we would forecast good stability
in the lesser pitched Green and Blue terrain.

For Experts, a far more individual scenario,
especially in the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades
and Un-Groomed where traffic and drifting may
generate some really unique descent lines.

Softness should also be a primary factor in the
Expert zones, so careful attention to good technical
skills with a compact stance and conservative speed
is recommended for all initial explorations.

You need to be ready for anything, so extra attention
to balance with low speed is the best strategy for
instant reaction times and the consequent quick
adaptations necessary for safe navigation.
