There Are Two Reasons Why Today Could
Be A “Fly Under The Radar” New Year’s Day
Of Select Excellence.

1) The Weather Forecast...

2) The Select Freshly Groomed Conditions Forecast...

Weather Notes:

There is a considerable degree of difference between
The Weather Network hourly forecast and the Official
Tremblant weather outlook when it comes to both
atmospheric conditions(partially sunny/overcast),
and precipitation(none/mixed). Out of all of that,
what we’re hoping for is bright overcast with dry
chairlift seats...

Skiing described as “Good, to very good”, which all whacky weather
considered, we think is a great place to start from. There are some icy
bits, but there are also hand posted Ski Patrol advisories, so if you’re
not a legitimate Expert, you want to heed all posted challenge notices.

Conditions Notes:

It is going to be critically important for all Beginners
and Intermediates to start all explorations within the
posted skill levels that you can actually/realistically
match with your own ability, prior to ranging upward
in challenge.

There are many, many potential wild cards of individual
surface characteristics, but the safest default should be
the smoothness in the freshly groomed terrain that has
now had an immediate heat and moisture acceleration
of density within the top layers.

It is possible that the wild cards out there today could
deliver surprising technical excellence in the sense that
what may have been previously prone to thickness or
choppy tracking, with this specific additional grooming
cycle, may now be elevated to a far more wide ranging
uniformity of packed stability.

It is obvious by the closures in the Sous Bois/Hors Piste
Glades and Un-Groomed, that these zones are the most
sensitive to the weather so it could be a little while before
we see these trails back on line. In our opinion though,
the Sous Bois base still has a very high quality foundation
for New year’s, so they may be off simply for concerns of
either safety or preservation. We think when they do come
back on, they should be very good. Of course, more snowfall
would be a big help, so with snow in the forecast it may
not be too long.

Vision may be an issue if the overcast persists as a
foggy cover over the Summit, however there is a fair
bit of brightness if you look straight up, so we’re
hopeful that the cloud ceiling will eventually raise
as the hourly forecast suggests.

It is possible that the Official Tremblant weather outlook
that includes any mention of mixed or rainy, may keep
some folks at home, it is also possible that late night
New Year’s Eve partiers suffering from too much “Cheer”,
may be hiding under dark covers nursing headaches, maybe.

Bottom line on attendance is that we’ll have to wait and see
but it’s a Sunday Holiday Weekend day so anything is possible.
It could be really busy all day, it could be quieter this afternoon
if folks need to get home to Theirville. It is a blackout period
for some lift pass categories, so it’s likely the bulk of guests
may be the Resort Holiday booked travel group, combined
with the non-restricted Icon pass holders.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
