Tremblant Had A Split Personality Yesterday
And There May Be Left-Overs Today.

(All Good, And All Positive...)

What this spectacularly scenic pic above does not show,
can not show, is the periodically tornadic wind gusts
happening as Mother Nature was moving tons of
snow across the Summit from Versant Sud/South,
over to Versant Nord/North, where it was settling
in very nicely, and below the Summit, very calmly
in the lee of the Mountains peak.

Coming around the corner at La Crete to descend on
Sud/South Beauvallon Haut/Upper, one was directly
faced with uphill wind force that could bring you to a
stop at times, so you needed to skate or use poles to
get a little ways down to the gravitational pull, but in
the mean-time, the wind was blowing so much snow
up the hill it was erasing previous tracks and as you
can also see, it literally made the surface look blurry
under the contrast of sharply focused people skiing by.

Due to the high quality of the natural snow to begin
with, it was all amazingly good in a technical sense,
but there were definitely two different sides of this basic
windy influence on one, and much calmer on the other.
You can see some of the effects of that below in the big
difference in the way the new snow settled in some of
the Nord/North Side trees.

Weather Notes:

Yesterdays mild temps were deceptive due to wind-chill.
With a fraction of that velocity today, it may seem very
similar in feel, even with cooler numeric values.

Big loads of natural snow are possible today, however
the intensity of accumulations is not totally predictable
within the range of hourly projections, so we may see
a fair degree of it Apres Ski.

Conditions Notes:

Basically, fantastic, authentic, genuine Mid-Winter
excellence across all types of Open terrain with
more fresh snow and relatively easy temps.

Due to wind shaped rates of snowfall deposit
there may be more favourable evenness in
Nord/North sectors that did not have the
same direct force applied and got bonus drifted
over snow. Grooming will have equalized most
of that, but the loose top layer depths may be
shallower on Sud/South as a consequence.

On the flip-side, due to the greater abundance of
soft top layers on the Nord/North, and depending
on traffic volume, there may be a tendency to generate
more in the way of bumps in the residual loft.

There is very little in the way of outright icy bits,
but some of those Sud/South topographical
crests that were exposed to most focused wind
energy may show the firm base at the top and
just descending on the initial portions of the
pitches below. Approach all crests with reduced
speeds in all first explorations and be mindful
of patterns that can be common across similar
contour features.

Regardless of where you go...
Warm up thoroughly on easy terrain and get ready
for quite a wide range of technical conditions that
are likely to produce an authentic winter workout.
