T360 Late Night Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct @ 10:21 P.M.
Let’s Start With This...

Above:
If you look closely at the foreground, you will see some
reflective bright spots which are the sun refracted sparkle
in the newest snow, showing it’s very dry and light quality.
Below:
So, you’re a jr. Mogul competitor on a regional team
and you’ve got an event at Orford next weekend, where
do you come to practice?
Tremblant, of course!

Everything we hope for on the path of attainment for annual grooming
refinement is symbolized with this example below. Trail # 64, Marie-Claude
Asselin is in exquisitely fine groomed shape, for the very first time.
A fabulous start to the final phase of seasonal maturity at Tremblant.
2.11.23.Nord.North.Marie.Claude.Asselin.Superb.Groomed.Easy.Expert.Performance.f.jpg
We will expand with more in the morning but the
summary is that everything at Tremblant had a
technical requirement to one degree or another
due to the recent warm ’n wet weather cycle,
however there was still comparative excellence
within all groomed skill levels. Things could have
been much worse and we feel Crews did very well
to recover so much and so quickly. P’tit Bonheur to
Beauchemin Bas/Lower, was maybe the best outright
glitch-free, super reliable, ultra smooth, top-to-bottom
trail and when empty and safe, like everything else, it
was rocket-fast on top of that.

It may be slightly technical in places,
there may be “firm” in some substrates,
there could be a few icy bits, but overall,
here is...

Below.
One forecast example of very fine trail quality should
be Nord/North Duncan Haut/Upper and Bas/Lower.
This trail has been in exceptional shape for weeks,
just doing nothing but getting better. With the big
wind almost directly behind it last night, we think
this could be a beneficially drifted-in zone today.
2.11.23.Duncan.Quad.Views.Duncan.Haut.Upper.Over.Expo.Sector.Peak.c.jpg
Weather Notes:
The actual overnight low temp is well below the
forecast values and we respectfully submit that
has been an identifiable trend of cooler actual’s
below recent forecasts that we appreciate because
they both contribute to, and sustain the stored
refrigerant properties of the Mountains terrain base.
Certainly we are still very much on the warm side
of daytime seasonal ranges for this time period, but
the reassurance of stabilizing overnight chills should
be a major factor for preserving the “winter” in the
skiing surface performance qualities.
-------- Supplementary Weather Forecast Data: --------------
Big Texas Low Storm System Possible Next Week.
Conditions Notes:
In the Groomed:
Generally, very fine where freshly machine dressed, however,
the top layers may be thin in places due to very vigorous Nor-West
winds that were howling across the Summit overnight. Any direct
facing Versant Sud/South Side wide open trail spaces could show
the firm substrates, or because of the warm ’n wet of the night
before last, some icy bits.
Conversely, on the Versant Nord/North, lee-side of the Mountain
there may be less tendency for those shallow top layers and an
increased tendency for backfill drift-in as the shadow effect of
the Summit may have permitted substantial settling in of the snow
that got wind-pushed over the peak.
It is quite likely that all groomed zones may be sensitive to weekend
traffic use patterns so it will be necessary to adjust on the fly as the day
progresses and you may not assume that trail conditions this morning
are going to be identical this afternoon. They could be, but you may
not assume that and therefore caution with speed is warranted at all times.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Evidently by closures, these are the categories that have been
most sensitive to the weather glitches of either wind or temp’s
or wet precip.
There will be very select suitability to Expert only skills, it is
very likely that legitimate technical abilities to handle very
difficult and unforgiving conditions may be required.
This is probably not a “Let’s go there for the fun of it...” day,
especially if you are not a genuine Expert.
The Official Open Trail list could change today and we
strongly urge all Tremblant Guests consult with the
Info.Ski Crews that have the very latest, up-to-the-minute,
radio controlled Mountain Intel.
It is a genuine, authentic, sunny, winter Saturday... It could be busy.
Please Note: First Day Of Season Open To 16:00/4:00 P.M. Hours

(#) "Though They Be Small, Their Significance Is Huge.”
The Gold Star, 10 Points award goes to any regular reader
who looked at the Official Trail Status Data and noticed
the grooming icon beside Versant Nord/North Side Trail # 64,
Marie-Claude Asselin. Pending field work confirmations,
this could represent a day that in our opinion is just as
important, if not more-so, that when the Mountain is 100%
Open.
This is a tiny trail by square area comparison but it is arguably
one of the very best grooming refinements of the entire season,
and as a symbolic attainment of the fullness of seasonal maturity.
Plus... this magnificent descent is now accessible to a X-10 greater
range of guest skill sets than it was yesterday. Period. On top of
that, it is one of the most beautiful natural boreal forest scenic
zones on Planet Earth.
It is possible that there could be a slight error in the data entry
as well. Historically, the adjacent trail #65 Banzai, is also
commonly groomed at the same time, but we have occasionally
seen singular trail upgrades in this zone before, so we hope
to confirm the extent of zonal refinements at Apres Ski.
