T360 Late Night Apres Ski Edit, Under Construct @ 11:29 P.M.

We ended up with a bit more in the groomed performance
spectrum than we thought we’d see. We think it was due to
an ever-so-slight enhancement to the soft top layer traction
levels by an increase in ambient humidity. Even though the
Sud/South base level hit +1 C, it did not thaw, as the overcast
made a very effective umbrella that kept potential solar intensity
completely offset.

We describe the attributes, benefits and advantages of
grooming this and the adjacent similar trails in the original
post for today below, and we can tell you everything positive
regarding that introduction is borne out in the reality of this
exceptional little gem that is is a literal Diamond in the
Tremblant mature season crown.

Though It Be Small, Banzai's Groomed Excellence Is Symbolic
Of The Ultimate Refinements And Overall Quality Of The
Entire Mountains Groomed Range.

Maybe, possibly, could be, some unknown probability of chance,
potentially, with any luck... we might see the third element of the
triad groomed soon... Le Tunnel.

At the end of the day, even though the temps at Sud/South
Base levels just touched +1C, the Mountain elevations stayed
very nicely cool, very nicely winter, all day long and without
any undue thermal influence whatsoever.

Tomorrow should be similar in temp., but with mostly
sunny, there could be a more tangible top layer softness.
The cold strata trail base support is 100% intact, so we
think the performance is going to continue on with the
essence of winter as a foundational characteristic. There
may be a higher degree of “Shred” but that will most likely
just bump the “Fun” level up a few notches.

There may be the long shadows of the Summit peak, but...

No Shadow Of Doubt About This Trail Grooming Excellence.

Every season we write about what we refer to as the Holy Trinity
of grooming refinements, what we consider to be the apex of
trail developments that indicate seasonal maturity.

Yesterday we got Marie-Claude Asselin, today we have the
second of the triad, Versant Nord/North Side, Trail # 65, Banzai.

This is excellent news about excellent terrain that is instantly,
literally overnight, now available in both technical access as well
as spectacular scenic grandeur, to a X10 greater range of skill sets
then yesterday. Period.

The freezing rain coating that made this previously un-groomed
very raw bumps zone so knarly was immediately rendered, and the
results were spectacular wonderment at how such a miraculous
transformation of ease and beauty could be possible.

Not only can thousands more safely descend now on Marie-Claude,
and Banzai, but this specific case, the sunlight being refracted into
billions of shimmering prismatic points of light through the ice-covered
tree branches could never be captured by any camera ever invented. You
quite simply need to go to this place as quick as your skis or board can
take you. The physical beauty of this place will take your breath away and
there are no words that can effectively convey the etherial impression of
Mother Natures scenic masterpiece that will be imbedded in your memory.

On the technical side, “before”, this trail required the very highest
restricted levels of Expert capability, “after”, i.e. now, we would not
hesitate to take a confident Intermediate with good “Hockey Stop” skills
here and as a matter of fact, a handful of runs down MCA Bas/Lower
(from the Lowell T to Devils River Cat Track), will literally make you
a better skier in an hour, doing laps, Via trail # 67, Lowell Thomas,
off the Lowell Thomas Quad.

Absolutely brilliant, absolutely fantastic... Merci, Merci, Merci to Tremblant Mountain Op’s.

Beyond the individual specifics of this(these) unique trail(s), even if you never
go here, what this means for the the rest of the Mountain is that...

When you see that the resources can be allocated to this level of
refinement here, there is an overall apex level of refinement over the
entire groomed trail network.

Weather Notes:

The ongoing benefit of very easy, warm for the time
period temp ranges that are without rainy precip., so
super-comfortable to dress for while surface qualities
are not overly stressed.

Conditions Notes:

To be fair and objective, we forecasted yesterday that
there would be a “technical” side to the conditions as the
consequence of grooming after the adverse freezing rain
event the night before last.

That was absolutely the case. It will still be the case, but
to a far less sensitive degree today.

The main attribute of the groomed yesterday was the
overall smoothness. “Weather Happens” and while that
is totally outside the control of humans, anything that
Mother Nature cooks up in challenge is so far, far easier
when the default for all groomed terrain is “Smooth”.

The top layers were on the shallow side, so you had to
be focused on speed control and traction/grip, but with
smooth just about everywhere, that was not a problem
and it just so happened that for the most sensitive group
of Beginner guests, some of the very best, most forgiving
surfaces were old reliable examples like Nord/North
P’tit Bonheur to Beauchemin Bas/Lower. This was only
one example of very fine and very forgiving descents
that made it a great day for Beginners.

Today, as “day-2” of additional overnight grooming, should
see a substantial and very perceptible upgrade in top layer
depths and the reduction of slick or icy bits that were
evident to variable degrees yesterday.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed there
is great hope with the vast areas of re-opening after the
adverse weather 48 hours ago, however there will probably
continue to be very individualistic ranges of both ease and
challenge that will necessitate careful Expert explorations.

Caution with speed in all these sectors is fully warranted,
especially where the Ski Patrol have hand posted hazard
warnings and if you are an authentic Expert, be very careful
about dragging your lesser skilled friends into difficulty.

Please Note: Today is “Super-Bowl Sunday” so that typically
means the Mountain may become what seems like a “Ghost
Town” at just around lunch hour as thousands of rabid Football
Fans race to the closest big-screen T.V’s to lay back and consume
more nacho’s and beer in one afternoon, than they do for the rest
of the year.

Words to the wise... if you can stick around for the afternoon,
you will probably have the whole Mountain to yourself.
We could be wrong, but it’s a pattern that has been repeated
for many years.
