We could write about a million words
to describe “Wonderful”, however they
would all pretty much have to end up
in the same place as “Wonderful”.

That’s it.

More in the morning, but so-far,
it looks like a repeat.

Not only do the Tremblant Info.Ski Crews provide
useful Mountain Intel. at the Summit, but they also
offer free guided tours. See them for details, but if
you are new to Tremblant, there is simply no better
way to quickly orient yourself to slopes and challenge
appropriate for your skills and interests.

Any day you can watch Experts carving the entire Expo pitch,
you know it’s a great day of technical conditions.

Here is a two-step sequence taken from the Expo Quad
approaching the sector peak crest.

Just fantastic to see genuine Experts skillfully
navigating one of the most challenging pitches
at Tremblant. This trail attracts a lot “aspirational”
and “I dare you” folks who end up slip-sliding
their way down, so legitimate Expert skills often
stand out over the average crowd for the obvious
ease and mastery of technique that is at the very
highest levels of recreational skiing proficiency.

Additionally we can tell you for a fact from these
two pictures that this person has fresh sharp edges,
you just can’t get this level of grip here without them.

If you want to learn how to ski like this above,
there are important lessons every recreational
skier can take from race technique. For that
reason you should plan to attend the F.I.S.
Nor Am Cup Event here at Tremblant from
Feb 27, to Mar 2, 2023.

Watch and learn from the very best.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

We are rapidly approaching the apex of mature seasonal
conditions as indicated by the first grooming of Trails # 64/65,
Versant Nord/North Side Marie-Claude Asselin and Banzai.

Grooming these trails not only increases their excellent technical
merit, literally overnight, to a X10 greater range of skill sets, but
further, they are symbolic of a level of overall refinement that is
only achieved in the fullness of the season.

The overall Groomed conditions are very fine to excellent within
the context of daily weather variations, but generally have been
trending upwards in universal coverage and seamless connectivity
between rated skill levels. Forgiveness is on the high side of favour
so learning and advancing is relatively easy with focus and tuned
skis or board.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Very individualistic, case-by-case conditions ranging
from raw to excellent depending the favourable lay of
the land in relation to retained or drift-in snowfall, or
on traffic use patterns. Genuine Expert skills are needed
for best results, but regardless, cautious speed explorations
are absolutely necessary for all who venture into these
categories.

Forgiveness can be on the low side as the recent warm/wet
cycle followed by a refreeze has reduced the loft in the soft
and generated some very firm bump patterns that do not
easily yield while passing through.

In the Sous Bois, care needs to be used when traversing tracked
to untracked zones as that same recent wet weather generated
an ice coating about 7mm/3/8” thick which is now about 7 to
10cm’s under the latest snow. If your ski tips break through,
and/or submerge, you may not be able to bring them back as
the leverage needed to pierce the ice upwards is beyond even
top level human muscle force, making turns impractical or
even impossible.

Watch for patterns and take all hand posted Ski Patrol
signage seriously.

On an overall basis the Groomed are the jewels, so
if the hourly weather forecast holds true for today
by noon or so, with just a touch of sunny warmth, there
may be a significant and positive increase in the lateral
grip levels that could enable far more aggressive edge
angles and the consequent abilities to generate higher
levels of retained turning force everywhere, but especially
on steeper pitches.
