More in the morning...

Go if you can...

---------------- 6:27 A.M. Orig. Post: --------------------

102/102(*) Open Trails On All 4 Open Sectors At #Tremblant .

It’s kind of like...

When you go to your favourite Fast Food place
and they ask you “Would you like your Snack Wrap
chicken “Crispy” of “Baked”?

Well if you’re at Tremblant right now, with temps floating
around Zero C, some sun, some shade, you can have your
Ski Conditions....

“Crispy”...
Versant Nord/North.

or...

“Baked”...
Versant Sud/South.

For the past couple of days, the Summit at Tremblant has
been a more-or-less dividing line between overtones of
either winter, i.e. “Crispy” @ Nord/North, or spring,
i.e. “Baked” @ Sud/South, where the various atmospheric
and compass point layout exposure factors have produced
separate and distinct tendencies that are all very fine to
excellent in their own ways.

We specifically say “overtones” because the overriding
characteristic is still completely “Winter” in-so-far-as the
base quality and coverage goes. There is simply a tremendous
amount of months of cold winter frost reserve stored for time
release in the core of the Mountain that is totally supportive of
virtually every square inch of surface coverage. So, the effects
of warmer air and solar energy are still just overtones, not
pervasive thaw... yet.

Weather Notes:

The early atmospheric icons say sunny, but the reality
so-far, is a light overcast that 99% of humans would
say is not sunny. It could all change very quickly, however
the scope of the “grey”, with a bit of thickness and not
much in the way of brightness, suggests otherwise.

At temps expected to float back up towards Zero C, we’re
happy to have that umbrella effect as it will continue to
support both the winter-like conditions and coverage.

Conditions Notes:

In the Groomed array...

At this stage, within the sustained dominance of “Winter” due to
the stored refrigerant in the core of the Mountain, the surface
effects of sun and warmer air are mostly what we would call
“nuances” as we have described them as either “Crispy” or “Baked”
in the lead for this post.

The base is solid, well established and very durable. What’s happening
in the surface variations is so-far within zero to 10 cm’s of depth, below
that you’ve got a very deep base, firm, mogul resistant, wall-to-wall and
Summit-to-base.

Basically, with this much in variable nuance, you can pick your own
flavour of preferred ski/board conditions and stick with that all day,
or experiment and explore, discover and enjoy. There is an almost
endless variety of sometimes subtle, sometimes remarkably contrasting
differences that are all degrees of goodness, even excellence, within
any individuals preferences for desirable challenge or ease.

There is an almost seamless connectivity between skill levels
of groomed terrain that make learning and growing technique
very easy. “Crispy” or “Baked” are both shallow enough over the
firm base that we would call either preference very “forgiving”
at this stage. Almost all the groomed surfaces will absorb little
technique errors without tripping you up so small mistakes are
easy to correct without harsh feedback.

Groomed Conditions Summary... fun and easy.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed...

Very individualistic with conditions of raw to superb
on an a la carte, trail-by-trail basis.

This is where there things are beginning to show some
coverage sensitivity over projecting natural contours of
rock and bush.

Careful initial explorations are vital in these categories
as many of the hazards can not be seen from above until
you are just about on top of them, so what may be ideal
would be to allow time for two runs through your choices,
the first to learn the patterns, the second to max the fun.

The Sous Bois And Un-Groomed Summary...

Have fun, but be careful.

The primary categorization of Expo as an authentic Mogul Run
is unquestionably very fine, however things are beginning to show
around the edges that require cautious navigation if you want to
avoid an accidental PreCambrian contact.

General Conditions Summary...

It’s March 10, and in any historic comparison, it’s a great
season with very well sustained overall quality and the
prospects of more snowfall yet to come.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
