T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski Edit Under construct At 12:13 A.M.

We’re going to reverse engineer this Apres Ski
by starting with midnight and working back through
Last Run.

Here it is in a nutshell... It’s been snowing at Tremblant
at variable rates of intensity, frequently very heavily,
for about 14 hours.

We are not sure what the Official snowfall measurement
is going to be, but regardless, it is a functional enhancement
to the quality of the skiing experience. It was already a functional
enhancement by 3:00 P.M., and it was falling harder and thicker
as Last Run approached.

You can see below that the Summit just touched Zero C,
however, we suspect that the winds aloft were far cooler
than that as the forecast called for mixed rainy/snowy,
but at least during Open hours, it was 100% snow and a
breeze that felt cooler, a lot cooler.

go or no-go, do not waste even one more second,
toss your gear in the vehicle and get to Tremblant A.S.A.P.

For those with the skills and the muscle,
it’s easily possible to spend quite a bit of
your day in the air.

Otherwise, It’s Just Smooth Sailing...

The groomed trail base is relatively mogul resistant
because the softness that comes each day is very
shallow, so generally the continuity of smoothness
is being completely supported by the residual frost
in the Mountain substrates, which is totally intact.

However, that does not mean that there aren’t contour
crests or dips or wave-like small bump patterns and
that’s where there’s a ton of airborne fun with just a
touch of speed as you see above.

Just one sample of the kind of easy Expert fun that’s
just about everywhere right now as Tremblant continues
to hold on to a remarkable run of weeks and weeks, months
of fully open trail access of impressive durability.

For Beginners and Intermediates, this universal groomed
smoothness is major benefit for quick learning and skill
level progressions, especially with respect to pitch angle
challenge. A lot of the ability to advance is simply becoming
familiar with, used to, less intimidated by slope angles, so
as you become used to Beginner slopes, it’s easier to move
up in steepness when there’s almost seamless connectivity.

Technically, you’ve had that advantage at Tremblant since
November 24, 2022, the difference now in recent weeks and
months is the huge degree of options choice you have with
the full array of open terrain.

Weather Notes:

After many sunny days of being spoiled with beautifully
scenic conditions, we see the possibility of some typical
March weather with wet snow in the hourly forecast. The
point to remember is that the hourly icons are for base
levels and at these temps the usual cooler Mountain
elevations are more likely to be all snow.

Conditions Notes:

Important Repeat:

Fabulous Early Spring Conditions Everywhere At Tremblant.

While overall it is exceptionally fine, it is not “Perfect”
and to be realistically objective, there are the kinds of
surface anomalies or glitches that can and do happen
when the inevitable thermal influence of warm sunny
early spring days are occurring. The cold sub-zero C
overnights reset the base that sees warmer afternoon
softening and consequently there can be very firm or
icy bits, but they are all minimal in terms of the vast
extent of consistently fine trail surfaces. Additionally,
they tend to occur in patterns, so if you are observant,
it is very easy to anticipate the potentials and reduce
speeds for safe transit.

Mountain crews are literally working around the clock
to produce thoroughly optimized surfaces and it shows
in everyday quality in each and every sector.

It should be noted that there continue to be marked
differences in the ambient “winter” or “spring” overtones
in conditions between the direct afternoon facing Sud/South
and the far more shaded Nord/North. The Jasey-Jay pic (#)
above is a prime example of a Nord/North trail that seems
untouched by any thermal influence whatsoever. It was
all winter, top-to-bottom, all day.

The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed
continue to be a daily unique fingerprint so care
in exploration is always warranted however, there
is so much snow still in the bush that it is quite
forgiving for the most part with lots of obvious
pathway choice as long as you are in complete
control of speed and directional corrections.
