Weather Notes:

Welcome back to winter!

What we think will likely become the most valuable
element of the long range outlook is the return to
optimal snowmaking conditions which we speculate
may restart at the highest volume possible.

No one can do anything about Mother Natures whims
(Whistler has no snow...), but at Tremblant, as long
as there exists even a tiny bit below Zero C, the
snowmaking can commence at an impressive rate
allowing for as quickly and as much coverage as possible.

Conditions Notes:

It’s gone from a rather long warm spell, to well below
Zero C, overnight. The laws of physics apply. What was
soft is now froze. Grooming will have rendered virtually
everything open smooth(#), however the temps did not
really hit the hard freeze until just before sunrise, so
it is going to take another day before the grooming
can produce a more universal top layer of loose, soft,
fine particles and until that occurs, there may be a
tendency for icy substrates to show through.

Yesterday we wrote that fresh, sharp edges would
be a major asset, today we say they are essential.

(#) Smooth is a default for each nightshift of
grooming at Tremblant, so even when the temp
cycles are not ideal for rendering soft top layers
in such a short time, the fact that most everything
was smooth when the froze hit, makes it all way,
way easier. Comparatively speaking, smooth corduroy
responds quite quickly to guest traffic, so we are
forecasting excellent all day mogul resistance with
a building user friendly quality as traffic generates
an increasing soft layer on top by shearing off the
corduroy ridges.

---------- Conditions Caveat ---------------

Today may be on the very low end of the forgiveness scale,
as particularly related to steepness and Green/Blue/Black
skill rated challenge.

Yesterday’s soft, easy to stop or recover on, is now rather
solid, so if you do not possess the skills and sharp edge
equipment to legitimately handle very firm steepness, you
are at risk for tumbles that are not going to be either easy
to stop, or have soft landings on. Additionally, gravity induced
runaway speeds may happen in a heartbeat, making steering
and stopping control moves extremely difficult to execute.

Do not drag or dare your Beginner or Intermediate friends
onto slope challenge beyond their actual skill levels. Default
to lesser Green’s and Blue’s for all initial explorations and
until you are thoroughly warmed up and completely confident
that you can stop or steer to avoid hazard almost instantly.

It’s A Holiday Weekend... It May Be Busy.

Scan, scan, scan... Watch out for bombers who may not
be able to avoid intersecting descent paths. Allow extra
wide passing margins. Be patient, wait and try to get more
unoccupied personal space by letting large groups pass well
ahead before proceeding.

Please Note: Typical Summit scanning was not available
due to web cam globe snow-coated to TGV Quad left.

Apres Ski Weather/Conditions Observations.

This is where we think you’ll see the scope of groomed
quality, plus active snowmaking really begin to expand
rapidly. Stable Sub-Zero C’s are ideal for incremental
refinements that all guests will benefit from at tomorrow
mornings first tracks!

Please Note: Your T360 author is not yet able to
be on site due to a post-surgical, medical LOA.
We expect to have that cleared by mid-December.
12.16.23-UPDATE: Due to LOA logistical support
issues, plus Holiday season scheduling, return
delayed but working on A.S.A.P.

Thanks for your patience. In the mean-time, we
intend to maintain the daily, chronologically filed,
weather and trail status data plus whatever
observational commentary possible for archival
date/seasonal/historical period sampling.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
