Authentic winter with fun, fast and forgiving snow surfaces
that have that cool, tight, “squeaky” characteristic when you
walk over it where it’s been compacted. We love that sound
because on the freshly groomed it means uniquely high
performance for Experts, yet wonderfully forgiving for
Beginners who will find control move initiation easy and very
much able to absorb little mistakes without harsh feedback.

Weather Notes:

“Bundle Up” advisory due to a wee bit of winter “edge” at
these temp’s that are likely to be slightly cooler up over
Mountain elevations. Combined with net wind chill generated
by descent speeds, all day comfort will be optimized by
close attention to properly fitted garment closures and
overlaps that effectively keep the air pressure created by
your forward velocity from coming through.

For those who’ve been here through some of the recent
snowstorm wind howlers, it’s going to seem calm, even
peaceful. Also, there's no doubt, the snow in the trees
frames practically every view around every turn a magnificent
winter postcard. Tremblant is simply beautiful with a
totally enveloping mantle of snow white frosting in every
direction you see.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Absolutely wonderful where freshly groomed. The snow is
quite light and dry with very little internal humidity, so it
has almost no adhesive stickiness and the mechanical
bonding is only the result of heavy machinery passing
over that leaves a simultaneously high traction, but low
friction, forgiving trail surface that is easy to exert control
on. This is why you love real winter conditions that have
virtually no signs of thermal intrusion.

For sure, there can be small icy bits where for example
high traffic volume gets concentrated over some topographical
contour crests, or where trails converge, or where focused
frontal wind facing exposures have occurred, but any such
tiny glitches in relation to the overall great quality, usually
develop in patterns of use that are easy to recognize,
anticipate, and avoid.

Overall, there should be a perceptible increase in refinement
in the freshly groomed as passing days without deep new
snowfall allows the loft of the soft to rendered out to more
ideal, consistent levels of compression. What that commonly
means is that the transitions across skill levels, in particular
Green’s to Blue’s, makes technique advancement a natural
progression during the course of a day for Beginners and
Intermediates.

"Tune Up” mode continues on with strategic snowmaking
that currently restricts access as noted in the Official Report
copy below, but this is necessary to optimize future seasonal
quality and durability, so we fully support Mountain Op’s
efforts to lay in foundational elements that will benefit the
trail network in the months ahead.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

"A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words.”

Generally, and especially considering the warm Holiday spell,
excellent for this time of season, however, as noted, it is
not perfect, and all explorations must be undertaken with
care and respect for hand posted Ski Patrol signage that
indicate either challenge and/or hazard.

In this category, Mother Nature has made an excellent
recent contribution of over 1 metre of fresh snow in
two weeks... however, it is mid-January, not mid-February,
so the contours and outcroppings still have early season
coverage and due to wind-shaped drifting there can be
both deep deposits as well as thin spots that become more
evident with traffic.

The secret to safe navigation in the Sous Bois is slow,
deliberate, focused, careful and patient progress.

Please Note: Your T360 author is not yet able to
be on site due to a post-surgical, medical LOA.
We expect to have that cleared by mid-December.
12.16.23-UPDATE: Due to LOA logistical support
issues, plus other scheduling issues, return
delayed but working on A.S.A.P.

Thanks for your patience. In the mean-time, we
intend to maintain the daily, chronologically filed,
weather and trail status data plus whatever
observational commentary possible for archival
date/seasonal/historical period sampling.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
