100/102(*) Open Trails.

Thank Goodness It’s Monday...

The weekend warriors are back at “Theirville",
so we can get back to the serious business
of "big vertical" skiing.

In the good old days of the Ski-Can, Red-Eye flights
out to Snowbird Utah or Sun Valley Idaho, you had
bragging rights to claim status within the Ski fraternity
for 100,000 Vertical descent feet in a week. Some
Resorts even gave medals out for it.

Here at Tremblant, in a lightly populated weekday
period(if you are a well conditioned athlete), you can
do that in 3 days... easy.

Wide Open Space...

So easy to work with, so beautiful to see!

A Great Learning Day!

Tremblant’s world class Cole Sur Neige Ski School can
frequently be seen doing on-the-job training. Mid-week
days offer a fantastic opportunity to improve your skills
without having to worry about big traffic numbers.
Wide open space helps build confidence by allowing
huge working areas to refine control moves without
so much in space sharing restrictions.

Conditions Notes:

Todays mission is going to be comparing the
groomed icon list with the actual trail conditions,
mostly in relation to the effects that traffic have
over the course of a day.

If yesterday was an example of much things could
be effected, today may be an example of how little
things should be affected.

Today is the reason you book a ski holiday that includes
a mid-week span of days.

In The Groomed:

We expect a substantial upgrade across the entire
range from the unusually mogul’d conditions
that had evolved over the weekend.

Tremblant is known for it’s logistical capability
to restore vast acreages of groomed terrain
overnight and we hope to prove that today.

Certainly, the temps have been very stable,
well below freezing for recent days so
where there are good, loose, skiable top
layers, the technical levels of traction and
natural speed have been excellent. We are
forecasting that as the basis for our outlook
today, together with the expectations of
coverage that the grooming icons on the
Official list designate.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

Anything goes... Totally a' la carte. Lots of well worn
Sous Bois can mean anything from great open tree
bump runs to very challenging terrain with natural
hazards. All of it requires very cautious initial
exploration in order to confirm safe passage.

While grooming can change huge tracts of front
side terrain overnight, the Sous Bois group does
not enjoy that dramatic difference so until we get
more snow, pay very close attention to hand posted
Ski Patrol signage.

Stop And Survey...

Many of the risky bits are not visible from above.
When you crest a topographical contour, when
you crest a big mogul or bump, slow down until
you could either instantly stop or pivot to miss a
downside harmful encounter.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
