--------- T360 Apres Ski Edit Under Construct At 9:57 P.M. --------------

We were happy to be wrong....

We thought we might lose the snow in the trees
with all the heat influences today, so we are indeed
happy to report that we were wrong...

Last Run On Versant Nord/North Side
P’tit Bonheur, looking up from bottom
of first pitch.

We think we got the technical skiing performance
exactly right. The softness was very shallow, but
there was great traction.

For tomorrow...

Very similar on great surfaces performance,
however you may need to be able to separate
your overall perceptions into “Surfaces”
and “Atmospheric”, the latter being the
wild card in the whole scenario.

An Early Peek At Spring For A Day...

What’s cosmetically going to be different by the
end of the day is the snow in the trees. At the
+5 C forecasted, together with a major dose of
solar energy, it is quite likely that the combined
thermal influence will melt off most of the tree snow.

Trail snow is a much different situation because
of the stored refrigerant in the core mass of the
Mountain. That underlaying support can hold
surface conditions very easily through this little
warm burp.

Depending on how low temps go at inherently
cooler Mountain elevations tonight, we may
see a bit of a crusty or icy influence tomorrow
morning, but for today and the next couple,
it’s a sneak peek at Spring!

Weather Notes:

Today, obvious totally photogenic, sunny to the
point you should really be using sunscreen.

We are not even slightly concerned with the
forecast light rainy icons below because in
80% of similar cases historically, it means both
a very low cloud ceiling where rainy bits tend
to be below the cloud, not so much in the cloud,
plus... they usually mean small areas of quickly
passing active valley weather that altogether
miss the Mountain.

We’ve been doing this for days, weeks and months,
so here’s what we’re going to be doing again...
all day at Tremblant!

Conditions Notes:

The difference between a sneak-peek of spring
and genuine spring is the depth of softness in
the top trail-snow layers.

For today, and the next 2 days, it should be very
very shallow, real spring can be very deep, so from
a functional standpoint, and in other words, today
and the next couple of days are only going to be
hints of spring.

Keep in mind that the deep frost penetration of
winter is quite capable of withstanding minor
thermal episodes for weeks and weeks, so a
couple of days is no big deal.

Any surface softness today will be a control and
lateral grip asset in the groomed, and in the Sous
Bois/Hors Piste it may make the top layers seem
thick. In the Un-Groomed mogul zones, there
could be a real mix of alternating soft/firm
along any descent path depending on traffic
wear moving the soft layers off, or piling them
up along the way, especially in descent lines
that get well worn as established tracks.

Due to the underlaying support of very well
embedded frost, especailly in the groomed,
the natural speed is likely to be very good,
so glide across plateau’s should be fine for
snowboarders who should not have to take
a foot out to traverse flatter zones. That
could possibly change later in the day so
boarders should stay sensitive to that and
pump the board off pitches to carry speed
just in case.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
