Fabulous Family Fun!

It’s like herding cats, but Mum finally corrals the kids
for a last run pic as they are cheerfully whooping it up
all the way down.

Memories your family will never forget....

Weather Notes:

The strong feature of the 14 day outlook continues to
be the enhanced, durable, stability of the base, due to
many consecutive deeply cool overnight lows. Regardless
of how much new snow falls, having the well frosted
foundation to carry it forward is critical for the future
of the remaining season.

For advice on appropriate skills matching to terrain selection,
there is no finer resource than the unique Tremblant Info. Ski
Crews at their Summit station between the Gondola and Lowell
Thomas off-load zones. This fully bilingual team are there for
the express purpose of optimizing your day on the fine slopes
of Tremblant. Consults with them will literally make your day
better, safer and more memorable.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

The new snowfall will add yet again another degree
of blended refinement within all freshly groomed
trail surfaces. If it snows with any significant
accumulation during the day, it should be a
beneficial cushion wherever the wind shapes
the depths.

If there are any glitches, they are typically traffic
wear issues towards the later open hours, where
passage volume displaces some of the loose top
layers off to the sides, exposing the very firm base.

This reveal of the base can also happen around,
but mostly below some topographical contours
such as crests where traffic has commonly been
making skidded turns to control speed before
descending on the pitches below.

We would continue to refer to the skiing as “technical”
because of the firmness in the base that wants both
sharp, fresh edges as well as smooth applications of
turning force in order to retain edge grip over very
densely compacted base substrates. Sudden or jerky
motions tend to lose traction proportional to speed
so obviously, the faster you go, the more careful
you need to be with applied control forces in order
to retain safe grip.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

There are zones of substantial improvement but on
a case-by-case basis that still call for very cautious
exploration.

This entire group of trails is genuine, legitimate
“Experts Only” and the Ski Patrol hand posted
advisories need to be taken seriously.

A few cm’s of fresh snow can act as “snow-camo” over
pre-existing natural hazards, so you need to move
forward with the capability to be able to stop, change
direction or pivot with near instant ability, to remain
safe.

There are loads of fun and very fine technical challenges
across the entire Sous Bois range, you just need to use
your head, slow speeds and common sense for safe
navigation in the rapidly evolving variations that can
occur in any descent path.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
