20(*) Open Trails.
The Big, New, Experts Challenge Is
Exactly Where
The Big, New, Expert Snow Is...
Versant Nord/North Side Trails # 64, 65, and 66,
respectively, Marie-Claude Asselin, Banzai, and
Le Tunnel, OPEN!
Here is an archival file shot of our Sous Bois forecast:
This on Trail # 65, Marie-Claude Asselin at the mid-point.
Over the past several days there’s been a very beneficial
accumulations increase that’s gone a long way in the
“Catch Up” game following the warm weather delays
of this seasons opening.
The principle zone of concentration is where we saw
the mid-day openings of the very first Black Diamond
Expert Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Un-groomed terrain
yesterday with Versant Nord/North Side Trails # 64, 65,
and 66, respectively, Marie-Claude Asselin, Banzai, and
Le Tunnel, OPEN!
Regardless of the challenges, this is fantastic early season news!
Weather Notes:
With temps ranging up into the low single digit “+” values
there are a lot of wild cards in todays forecast because of
the elevation differential that could have the Summit and
a lot of the trail network at or below Zero C, while the
Sud/South Resort Base goes above, all while there is
precipitation happening.
The persistently optimistic outlook would be for all snow
on the Mountain, however the reality is more likely a mix
of wet or wetter on lower levels that may change to a wet
snow at higher levels.
This is notwithstanding what might be happening at upper
atmospheric levels above the Mountain where there are
typically even cooler temps that could influence the mix
favourably towards snow.
You may need your Descente Poncho...
In terms of “Today”, it stands to be messy.
In terms of “The Big Seasonal Picture”, it could be useful.
What we see in the latter case is that a slight warm/wet
injection at some early points actually becomes a compressed
and very smooth mantle over the groomed trails that acts as
a foundation for future snowfalls and, as a very solidly compacted
strata, that is almost impervious to minor thermal/wet events
during the course of the season when either “January Thaws” or
even later on when “Spring” begins to happen.
-------------- Supplementary Weather Data: --------------
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Very fine to excellent across the entire skill level array
due to repeated grooming cycles achieving optimized
density over the entire range.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades/Un-Groomed:
Legitimate Experts Only... Please.
The challenge will be highly variable and will
absolutely demand genuine Expert experience
and skill sets. Mixed hazards of rock and wood
will be present and the only thing preventing
accidents is suitably slow speed within line-of-sight
navigation where you can stop or pivot to avoid
hazard, virtually instantaneously.
There is a high degree of probability that these zones
opened for the first time yesterday, may be closed if
traffic wear and/or the warm/wet conditions elevate
the hazard or risk factors above the threshold the
Ski Patrol needs to certify these areas as safe, so
enjoy them while you can.
There is also some possibility that being on the upper
Nord/North side, just below the Summit, if there is
snowfall up there, it could actually be an outstanding
wet and/or deep powder experience, weather permitting.
Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:
Bonjour Tremblant! Today, the weather forecast
predicts a mix of precipitation and strong winds.
We remain optimistic about operating our mountain
as usual, but some issues may arise throughout the
day.
Please take note that the alpine touring trails are closed.
The forecast is looking fantastic, and we're gearing up
to open even more skiable trails and lifts in the coming
days. Several mountain areas are currently being
progressively snowed in, all in preparation for our
highly anticipated 24h Tremblant event, happening
from December 13th to 15th.
Get ready for an unforgettable winter adventure!
