A Quick Return To Winter.

After yesterday’s little, and we mean very little, thermal
burp, the quick return to winter is just what’s needed
to get more snowmaking development work in place
before the big 24Hr Children’s Charity Fundraiser
weekend that starts tomorrow.

Only time will tell regarding exactly how much
additional terrain the public will get, but things
look very good for the total development of
the Sud/South Event course. Ultimately, with
one possible exception(#), as in next Tuesday,
that’s going to mean we should finally have
Summit-to-Base Ski-out to the Resort base.

(#) The one possible exception is the potential
to have Nansen Bas/Lower opening either tomorrow
or Saturday morning, maybe, possibly, could be...???
If it is possible, it would be a huge logistical asset
for everyone, however it is absolutely one of those
“Weather Permitting” utilities that may be outside
human control.

A review of the Official Trail Status reports shows
that there was active snowmaking on Nansen
Bas/Lower December 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, so if
it is not yet done, it certainly is close.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

More fresh snow over and blended into the mix
today should go a long way towards mitigating
any icy bit tendencies that might have normally
occurred after a warm weather burp.

However... the snowfall was delivered by a relatively
vigorous wind so there are high probabilities that
some wind-facing zones could experience base
exposures containing slick or icy bits.

The overwhelming majority should be very good
to very fine though because this much new snow
integrated into trail surfaces always benefits the
range of quality.

The bottom lines here are look for and be alert to
patterns and use slow speeds on all initial explorations
to confirm safe descent.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Here’s where the sensitivities lay. Two days ago,
Versant Nord/North Side Marie-Claude Asselin,
Banzai and Le Tunnel were briefly open and
evidently because they are closed, the criteria
for safe reopening by the Ski Patrol are not
being met, yet. One ray of hope in these areas
is the snow squall Weather Advisory in today’s
Weather Notes. If there was an extended high
intensity natural snowfall in the Lowell Thomas
Sector, we could possibly see this category be
reopened, maybe.

Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:

Bonjour Tremblant! After this episode of rain,
the cold has returned, and the temperature
dropped below zero shortly after midnight
last night. Our grooming team then began
their work on rebuilding our slopes and will
need to continue it for part of the morning.
For this reason, we will offer access to our
beginner terrain from the opening, but our
intermediate and advanced terrains will open
progressively. Have a great day on our slopes!

Please take note that the alpine touring trails are closed.

The forecast is looking good for the snowmaking,
and we're gearing up to open even more skiable
trails and lifts in the coming days. Several mountain
areas are currently being progressively snowed in,
all in preparation for our highly anticipated 24h
Tremblant event, happening from December 13th
to 15th. Get ready for an unforgettable winter adventure!
